Italian and his wife gitulis sa Tagbilaran, Bohol
« on: August 26, 2007, 07:29:12 PM »
By Kit Bagaipo
The Bohol Chronicle

An Italian national and his Filipina wife were robbed inside their home Wednesday night in barangay Ubujan, this city by two still unidentified armed men.

This is the latest to the string of robberies reported in the city added to the unsolved killing of Jack Arat, a Bohol Tropics marketing executive.

The victims were identified as Gino Contenobes, 69, and his wife Agnes Patigue, 35, residents of Sitio Doldol, barangay Ubujan.

According to police, the burglars barged into the couple's home around 7:30 p.m.
Both suspects were armed with handguns and wore bonnets to hide their faces.

The robbers took Agnes' bag containing over P20,000 before they fled.

During an interview over dyRD, Agnes said the two robbers were able to enter their residence through a gap in their fence that was ongoing repair.

Police investigators said the suspects could be familiar with the couple's residence which was in a secluded area.

The case is now being followed up the City PNP's Theft and Robbery section.

Why don't we hear from Lim? Is he visiting the US again?
Is he too busy for Tagbilaran?

Ug kinsa man pod diay ni si Lim nga gi refer ni Franklin?

Tingali ... it might help for people to really be careful about their whereabouts ... and who to trust as well.  Kasagaran sa mga Tulis, has some inside job associated to it ... mga insider's tips from the people who are supposed to be trusted ...

Children should be given free education and free healthcare as well para wala nay mga tatay nga manulis para ikapalit ug tambal or ipauskwela as ilang mga anak.

Just my own opinion.

if he is the so-called Mayor in Tagbilaran "LIM" - there is no surprising news then - for the Politicians over there are
busy on trip for the satisfaction of their egos but not for the positive developments for our country.

Mayor na sya. O God, everyone have no idea what he's up to, that's why crimes can never be solve in Tagbilaran, unless if he's out of office and put back the real Mayor who can't be bought! Connect this to why "Cops" in the city couldn't do a thing. The funds? of course there was funds, where did it go? you know where!
When the crimes happened few years ago, one of the high rack official wanted to put up a more higher official in the city's police station to monitor everything. But, was blocked by the mayor...he said no need...he can handle it....and so look what happen now? I pity Bohol, everyone seems so naive, although I might say... some knows what's going on but afraid to say so.....why? well....you know why!

naunsa naman ang tagbilaran karon oi.  hadloka naman diay na.  nagplano pa naman mi sa akong bana na mostay dinha ug mga 6 months.  hain raman diay ang "gibantog" nga mayor sa siyudad, ngano wala ma'y action?  gusto man kaha nila ipromote ang bohol sa mga foreigners or turistas, they should do their part para sa security sa mga bisita.  we have friends nga mokuyog namo inigvisit namo dinha sa bohol puhon, but doubtful naman hinoon mi.  ug gusto ang local government sa bohol na makadani ug mga bisita, (nga unta makatabang sad gamay sa mga tour operators, drivers, restaurants, and whatever) tarongon unta nila ang peace and order situation dinha.  sayang lang, nagplano pa naman mi na moinvest dinha.  tsk tsk tsk.   pagmata na mga politicians oi!  too much politicking ra mo da, wala'y action.

Tulis in Alturas
« Reply #15 on: August 27, 2007, 08:24:33 AM »
The Italian was robbed on the day another robbery took place near Alturas department store.
Karenderia gitulis but it was not reported. Maybe it was too disgusting if the public would know it.

it's high time that Mayor Dan Lim should learn to apply the ways and means of his cousin Mayor Fred Lim in solving the rising criminality in this once peaceful and crime-free city.

A long, long time ago
I can still remember
How that music used to
Make me smile

And I know if I had my chance
If I could make those people dance
Then maybe they'd be happy for awhile

But the crimes have made me shiver
Even if it's not yet November
Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn't take one more step...

I can't remember if I cried
With all the people robbed, killed and died
But something tears me deep inside
The day the music died

El.... can u give us any hints how to solve such activities?  The hard life in our City
forced the people to do so. I am sorry for this--that even our co-Bol-anons are also
victims, no more pili.

Mike, i hope that the robbers did not take the caldero with dugo-dugo. ( i love it)

I am so tired of the talking by all you Philippine persons if it is so bad then put your words to action. You know it is bad so do something about it? Stop whining!
You vote for a politician but your all scared as crap go tell him off as need be or to tell him to grab a gear and get it under control? I have no problem with it I have told him off a couple of times and I was nice about it when doing so.
IMPEACHMENT! ;D
What the heck is democracy if you can not put it into action  people?
You can talk the talk all you want and know things are bad but none of you do to your custom have the kahuna's to go face to face with the one you elected and voted for too protect and serve you.
You know if you try to it is a lost cause because with Dan Lim it is all about him and not what you say too him.
He is all about dictatorship and you guys are all into the drama scene of whats going on here.
Often you people come up to me and ask me to do your dirty work and when I do i stick my neck out as well but I do not mind because I believe in you all and I want that there be compassion for you all as well.
It is hard to put guppies in front of the sharks mouth and he doesn't bite it off.
He is not all bad he even gives me a hug or shakes my hand because i will let him know what is the truth whether it is good or bad he knows I have battled for all of you.
I am not intimidated to go inside his office.
Why do you get bought for cheap when you all vote and then the one who ends up winning is not doing his job up to par for your city to keep you and your community protected?
Sometimes you all confuse me? ::)
God gave you all brains so please put it to use and if he has enough concerned visiting him with the same generalize message maybe he will get the message? let him bark up his storm he is harmless. His bark is louder then is bite!
You both are entitled to believe what is right but if you speak as a majority is it not going to out rule him? (DEMOCRACY)
His office is just as much as yours go ahead make yourself at home stay firm and stand behind yourselves. if you can complain about things in here for many to see it then who said he is not watching this web site as well.
Go fight win and keep your poise. Is it not one of his favorite things to say? get with it people this is the 21st century not 1900's! ;)

I am flattered. Thanks for the compliment. I am the same way in my column that I write for in a weekly newspaper here in Bohol.
I write the "Precious Thoughts " column in the "Bohol Standard". it is just now celebrating it's third year in publication this week. It is packed with the meat of the news and not the fat, because we are so new, not like our competitor who is a pioneer and is packed pretty much with advertisement filler. you know the MC Do burger with the bun in the middle but no extra beef? Our main news writer who is our editor received best news reporting in last years Bohol Tri Media Awards for 2006.
We cover the entire province when we discuss the news.
If ever you would like to submit a letter or commentary for the paper please let me know?
I have become very popular according to the many persons who recognize me the kind of out spoken writing ability that I share. I have received praises from many judges and politicians and business persons. I am a guest of honor at times as well as a judge for some pretty local prestigious pageants and competitions here. I have really enjoyed being with some of the best persons in media here and making an abundance of friends as well.
I am what you call "Friendly Media" I get along well with everyone despite my writting may be harsh and to the point at times or so funny it will tickle your bones and make you laugh.
Most pf the writers on this page are connected into media here in Bohol.
keep up the posting!
Take care you!

Korek ka ani. If they want to bring more tourist to Bohol they have to keep the peace and order in town.
I am confused because like you I heard that Dan Lim is a good mayor. Iya gani kunong table naa pay gibutang nga "peoples servant". Very accomodating daw siya ug daghan na nahimo sa Bohol nga maayo.

So what's the truth?

You are right Ms Precious! It becoming very tiresome to hear a lot of moans and not SEEING anything to NIP the root of it all!

I wonder if you had already tried other countries as well?  Then you won't be as frustrated as you are now in Bohol!

Sir Franklin had decided NOT to live in Bohol!  At least he had come to a very sound decision!

I think from my observation some people here base their ideals on some sort of make believe or fantasy.
Or maybe some persons who twirl their tongues in here have not twirled the years I have spun!
Yes I have been to other countries and went there via my families yacht and we were good to people as they were to us.
In sailing to different continents you get a chance to meet all kinds of people representing many countries. We network and learn from them but no one ever asked money from us how they do here and then not pay you back? Instead they would work off a trade if needed be for favors if they did ask.
Yes "Proud" I have partied with the poorest and partied with the richest so I do know what I am talking about.
I pay enough money to be here with my permanent resident visa, You can buy land in my country but i can not buy land here and put it in my name.
You can be born here and move to America become a citizen and petition your cousins to go and migrate their also.
Can I do that here in the Philippines? It is not allowed.
So Miss proud how do I think when I can not even take my long time step daughter to the states unless I adopt her? I am a born citizen and from there?
I take care of my Philippine kids fine here in fact, I am responsible for four of them and as a foreign parent I do pretty good to be able to figure it out here.
I would have to pat myself on the back as most Philippine women do not even accept the kids of their loves or husbands from previous relationships. (Mentality thing)
You people have to speak out and take action towards the correct things in order to spend the energy on the things to be improved not to say things such as it was a sound decision to go out of the Philippines?
Well how could Bohol survive if you was to say it was "Sound!" that all foreign persons living here leave and go back where they came from so you would rather see your island fail from tourist going here because some of the things going on here are not so good at the present time?
In my opinion telling persons that going back to place of origin from your Island does not sound like to me you love your place very much?
Do not take it personally instead do something about it to make persons want to keep coming back and also if it is a good place you can get plenty of free advertising as tourist will always go back home and talk instead about how nice it is here then that gets the chain going further and further along to keep generating funds in Bohol.
As people will want to come here more often.
:)

You can buy land in my country but i can not buy land here and put it in my name.

That law had been designed mainly to make the Philippines, still belong to the Filipinos, at least in paper!!!

Do you think without such a law, there will be any place left for Filipinos to own?  Almost all the private beaches in Bohol are owned by some foreign nationals, through their Filipino spouses, of course!  Are you aware of that, Madam?  Without such a law ... what do you think will happen to the whole of the Philippines, what with the foreign exchange rates always to the advantage of you. Westerners, hu?

Filipinos could not buy the whole of your America, even in one's wildest dreams, Madam Precious, could they?

Do Filipinos have the freedom to go to your country without a VISA?  But you do have that benefit of entering and staying in the Philippines WITHOUT asking anyone's permission for at least 21 days, don't you?

Equal?  Who says everyone is equal?  In real life?  Maybe in theories and dreamer's books!  Spunning fairy tales ...?

I have nothing personal against you, Oh, High and Mighty Americana ... but you just make it sound as if ALL FILIPINOS, and for that matter, ALL BOHOLANOS had been sponging on you!  Reread your threads ... !  I am just sending my 2-cent's worth, even if I could not claim to have wined and dined with the rich and famous as you have said you have been doing!

I am not saying that Boholanos are a saint as a people.  Could you honestly say that of all your compatriots?  Hu?

I was just wondering ... that if Bohol is such a bad place, with its corrupt politicians and it's citizenry mainly composed of non-paying debtors and locals with crab mentality ... why bother living in their midst?  ... I reiterate ... I am just wondering!!! ... Repeat to the point of being super makulit ... just wondering why ... with all the perceived NEGATIVES ... why bother living amongst "savages" and "ignoramses"?

Korek ka ani. If they want to bring more tourist to Bohol they have to keep the peace and order in town.
I am confused because like you I heard that Dan Lim is a good mayor. Iya gani kunong table naa pay gibutang nga "peoples servant". Very accomodating daw siya ug daghan na nahimo sa Bohol nga maayo.

So what's the truth?
bitaw oi, makalabad jud sa utok, gibantog man kaha na siya nga banggiitang mayor, pero asa man dapita siya nahimong banggiitan?

Precious,
It is all one sided.
Proud, I don't understand your tone. Are you saying that we should leave; because you don't like criticism?

Hi, Sir Frank!

No ... I am not saying that everyone should leave!  In fact the opposite, if you bother to read my previous posts?

What I am saying, was in response to Precious' post ... I said that I was just wondering ... bewildered ... ?

Please re-read what she had written ... and read it with an open mind? ... not because you are an American like her, but just an impartial reader, hu?

I know there are  a lot of problems in Bohol!  While I know how to dream, I also am a REALIST!  I do not like how things are being done here in the UK --- but do I have the right to cut the British to shreds just because there are some racist and unjust people out here?  Re-read what Precious had written!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... before taking sides and spouting .... hu?  Crab mentality? Allergic to criticism?  Who is, really?

I reiterate:  I am not claiming the Boholano people to be SAINTS.  Maybe you and Precious think the American People are ... but I DON'T!

There are a lot to be sorted out!!!  I cannot even do anything from my side of the world, as of now!

You can be born here and move to America become a citizen and petition your cousins to go and migrate their also.
Can I do that here in the Philippines? It is not allowed.
So Miss proud how do I think when I can not even take my long time step daughter to the states unless I adopt her? I am a born citizen and from there?

First and foremost:  I do not know much about American immigration rules.  I will never claim to be a KNOW-ALL.  But from what little I know, Filipinos could not petition their COUSINS, Madam Precious!  Please check your info ... They can petition their PARENTS, I think.  Then, the Filipino parents can petition their children.  But of late there has been some changes to that, if I am not mistaken?  More stringent rules to curb migration to the U.S.?  ... and not VICE-VERSA (meaning NOT migration of Americans to the Philippines), certainly?

Second issue:  Are you still together with your step-daughter's Dad?  If so, why can't you get him to petition for her?  But if you are no longer with your step-daughter's Dad --- then under the law, and even under your own American law (???) you are not the kid's legal guardian? ... How does your own American embassy view this?  If ever, there is a problem with you wanting to take the kid to the States, it might be with your own American government not wanting to give the kids their VISAS?

All you need to do where the Philippine government is concerned is just get an AFFIDAVIT signed by both parents if they are both still alive --- allowing you to take the kids out?  (Please consult your lawyer though, as I am NOT a lawyer myself!  And what little I know about Philippine Jurisprudence, might already be OUTDATED!)

I had been separated from my kids' father for 13 years.  All those years, I had single-handedly supported my kids, not bothering their Dad!!!  He had NOTHING whatsoever to do with the kids for 13 years!!! But ironically I was STILL REQUIRED by my own government to produce the kids' Dad's notarized signature, allowing the kids to join me, their natural mother, who had raised them!  I do not know if Social Services will treat your step-daughter's case any differently.

But I think that law was passed (banning non-Filipinos) from getting Filipino kids out of the country, because of the prevalence of these kids' body parts being sold by unscrupulous foreigner posing as adoptive parents to these poor kids!!! (Please check this as I am not sure about the accuracy of this law).  There must be some way out, if this is the specific law that is causing all your grief!

1)I see that you are in Britain, why? because of the money.

2)Are you proud of the fact that a German man and his wife hired a housemaid, only to betray the couples trust and murder them for ...what? A stupid cellphone, some cash. And now that she is caught, this young housemaid's life is garbage, ruined. Are you proud of this?

3)But I hear you saying, "Precious, stop complaining stop talking about it. And leave this country."
If I were really proud, I would invite people to look at our accomplishments.

4)Just to say you are proud for prides sake is emptiness. And now what you say to Precious is small minded. Certainly nothing to be proud of.

I acknowledge having received your previous post about you being depressed over the situation ... and about you having misread my post!  I reiterate that there is no problem ...

But I would just want to answer the points you have raised marked by the red numbers on the qouted parts.

1) No ... I was earning enough in the Philippines as a C.P.A., thank you, before I came to join my British husband, in the UK.  I lived very comfortably.  I did not need much though, as I lived a very simple lifestyle! I raised my children even patronizing the local public schools, the way I attended public school during my elementary education years.  Unlike most Filipinos whose dream was to go abroad, mine was  --- just to stay in the Philippines!  If you don't believe this, you can ask me later for my husband's email address ... check this out with him!

(I wonder where you are from the States?  What made you live, and yearn for someplace else?)

I have read of countless of stories about Filipino professionals being treated in foreign lands as second-class citizens.  I did not want to be subjected to such a treatment.  Thus even from a young age, I did not dream of even going to your America.  If I did ... I would have taken up Nursing and not Accounting, you see?

I went to the UK to join my British husband ... to get f***** all I want!  Too bastos ... well, that is the plain truth ... sorry for probably offending some super sensitive people.  All the nice Filipinos were already taken, and Divorce is often frowned at, even when one can afford it!!!   :P ::)

2)   No I am certainly not proud of anyone killing anybody, irregardless of nationality!!!  But are you insinuating that I be responsible for their actions, for me to feel ashamed?  I will never hold you responsible for the countless DEATHS in Iraq due to your President Bush's warped ideas, will I?

3)  You heard WRONG! What I meant was that instead of moaning about DEBTS not being paid by her debtors, why NOT SUE THEM?  Hu?  Although I will admit about my amazement at why she sticks it out in a place that she thinks is so horrible; its people too ungrateful and simply gold-digging???  ... I would certainly not take it sitting down!

We moved from East Yorkshire to South Yorkshire mainly because of the worsening Anti-Social problems of the area where we lived! Would you have advised me to strangle all those Anti-Social kids with their parents?  Here in the UK, police visibility is much worse than in Bohol!!!!!  Ask your British friends about police statistics here if you don't believe me!!!

Not all residents of Hull are evil!  I understood that!  I did not malign the Yorkshire people for my house being egged by local ignorant kids!  We DID SOMETHING to solve the problem though!  WE MOVED!!! Now we are in a better area and neighborhood.

I still get taunts by even giant-sized girls at this village we live ... being "chinkee" (because they think that anyone NOT white-skinned is certainly from China!!!)... but do I lambast the people of Barnsley because of it?  No!  Definitely not!

I said that at least, you have decided not to be bothered with Bohol!

Then at least, maybe she might be happier somewhere else, in the meantime?  Cebu City might suit her better?  Or the province of Laguna?  Or Cavite? Zambales perhaps?  What about Batanes?  At least, your way presented a momentary solution of being spared the horrors of the place?

And NO ... Driving away people in Bohol does not make it a better place to live.  It needs SORTING OUT!  How I can help, I still do not have the foggiest of ideas! BUT BOHOL needs to definitely get its act cleaned!

Some people say we should be like the beautiful white pure waterlily, that grows out of the stinking muck; but, never gets soiled.

Very nice quote, Sir Frank!  But you see, UNLIKE most Boholanos, who would just bow their heads down to avoid confrontation --- hahahaha ... if you might have noticed ... I am not afraid to reason out and argue, and fight if I need to!

I have an "evil" streak as well, that I have tried so hard to suppress!  So when I am provoked ... God knows what I will most likely do?

But so far, I have not yet physically assaulted anyone in defence of my rights out here ...  ;D  I have God to thank for that, surely!!!   :o

... I am the type of woman, who when stoned ... would throw back bread ... but bread that is sturdier/harder than the stone I got hit with; bread with barbs if I could get some... Waaa!

I know it is not so Christian an attitude ... one of my demons ... but left on my own ... undisturbed ... am quite an angel!    ::) :P
