The continued strict implementation of the Police Integrated Patrol System (PIPS) and widening the intelligence network in barangays (up to the smallest sub-villages) top the priorities of the new city police command.
The new city chief of police, Supt. Gil del Prado, said a noticeable reduction in the crime volume has been observed since the strict implementation of PIPS as a nationwide thrust of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Del Prado also pointed out that strengthening the police intelligence network can be achieved by training more agents without necessarily needing additional intelligence funds.
Aware that the media needs information from the police from time to time, Del Prado assured that there would be somebody to attend to the queries provided that delicate information remain properly handled.
The new chief of police intends to designate a public information officer to attend to media men. But he also said he can answer the queries himself, if necessary.
Del Prado, the third official to assume as the city's chief of police for this year alone was formally installed in a turn-over ceremony at the city police stationlast Wednesday.
Del Prado left his post as deputy director for operations of the Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO), to replace Supt. Arcadio Jamora Jr. as head of the City Police.
