The tricycle driver who returned $1,700 left by a passenger continues to reap rewards for his honesty from people and organizations.
Iluminado Boc, 45, was highly appreciated by the cross-section of the community for his honesty.
Mayor Dan Lim during an interview with dyRD, where Boc received a citation and cash reward, committed to pay the balance of Boc's motorcycle unit while a brand new tricycle will be at hand.
Aside from the mayor's commitment, Boc also received a plaque of appreciation from the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professional (BCBP) under its "Be Honest" campaign. A P3,000 cash was given to Boc from BCBP and dyRD last Monday during the "Inyong Alagad" program.
On May 21, Boc found the money, left in the passenger's seat of his tricycle.
His rare deed generated an outpouring of tribute.
During its inaugural session last Friday, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan likewise adopted a resolution recognizing the driver's honesty.
Lim lauded Boc who, despite his own economic woes, proved "that there is hope after all for every crisis" one faces.
Boc's wife was hospitalized at the time he found the money left by Misael Bernasor.
Lim said he would give Boc a new tricycle unit as a reward for his honesty and, when he learned Boc's monthly installment for the tricycle he drives was past due, would pay the balance.
Aside from his wife's hospitalization expenses and installment payments for his motorcycle unit, Boc is also paying for the monthly amortization for his house at the Habitat Village, this city.
The mayor likewise promised employment opportunity for one of Boc's sons.
