A daring armed robbery suspect barged into the Caltex gasoline station near Plaza Rizal mid-morning yesterday and carted away P100,000.
The station owned by businessman George Lim was the victim of the latest robbery in the city which was pulled by a lone gunman at 9:30am yesterday.
Grace Victorio, a staff in the said gasoline station disclosed to the Chronicle that the unidentified gunman entered into the station's mini store purportedly to buy Marlboro, Lipovitan and biscuit. Not sensing anything unusual in his entry into the mini-store, he was given his order.
The suspect suddenly pulled a pistol and poked it at Victorio and declared it a holdup.
Gelyn Bernaldez, the cashier of the mini store, was also helpless as the suspect entered into the adjoining office inside the store and carted all the bills representing the sales left overnight of the gas station.
In about five minutes, the suspect took the bills amounting to some P100,000. He rushed out from the office and rode in his motorcycle off to J.A. Clarin st.
They described the suspect as between 30 to 35 years old, wearing a helmet and jacket.
The gas station had no guard on duty at the time of the robbery since the Blue Guards are on duty only between 6:00PM to 6:00AM daily.
For his part, P02 Silvan Palacio of the city criminal investigation section admitted facing a blank wall since the salesgirls could not give enough clue on the description of the suspect as they were still in a state of shock. However, police will review some police characters who are in the watch list of the PNP. (Anthony Ranoa Aniscal )
