Former Bohol SK, Wife Killed in Tubigon Ambush
« on: September 20, 2010, 08:53:57 AM »
By Bohol Chronicle

Police theorized the drug trade-related matters as the possible motive behind the ambush slay of a former official of the Sangguniang Kabataan and his wife inside their car along the national highway in Pooc Occidental, this coastal town mid-morning last Thursday.

The victims, Alphonsius Boligao, 34 and pregnant wife, Maricor, 26, failed to arrive at a Tubigon hospital alive after they were ambushed by a motorcycle riding assailant who pumped 11 shots into the victims' car.

PNP Prov'l Director Constantino Barot, Jr. told the Chronicle that based on initial information gathered by the Tubigon PNP, the ambush has something to do with drugs.

Boligao had earlier figured in a shooting incident in Clarin town last July, according to Police CInsp. Lorenzo Batuan, Tubigon PNP chief when interviewed by the Chronicle yesterday.

The identity of the suspect might surface when police investigators will meet tomorrow with some of the close friends of the victim.

The police chief expressed dismay over one eyewitness who declined to issue statement on what he saw during the ambush.

Batuan said that police recovered 11 empty shells near the red Toyoto Corona car of the victims.

Both Alphonsius and Maricor were hit with a single gunshot wound at their backs, an indication that the wife must have tried to cover her husband when the first burst of gunfire hit the windshield at the back of their car. The triggerman on board a black XRM was apparently trailing them from behind.

Eye witnesses said that the suspect came near the driver's side and pumped additional bullets - as if to ensure his death - which could be the fatal gunshot that killed the couple.

Tubigon Mayor William Jao, for his part, said the incident did not materially affect the peace and order condition of Tubigon since it was a very isolated case and police suspects the incident as purely motivated by personal revenge.

The statement of the mayor came as it was the first recorded ambush in his hometown.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
