The Bohol BPPO is downplaying rumors of a serial rapist, reportedly killing his victims after raping them, roaming around the province. BPPO Chief SSP Anthony Obenza said the text messages circulating in Bohol about the alleged serial rapist has no basis. That the alleged subject was suspect in a lone rape case involving a a seven year old girl in Antiquera town.
The alleged suspect carries the same family name, Panilon and remains at large. Obenza said there are no other reports of rape reported in the province involving the same alleged suspect.
The police chief said authorities are not on the trail of the suspect allegedly moving from one place to another to evade arrest.
The suspect is also said to be involved in a pending parricide case for allegedly killing his father.
The text messages from about the alleged serial rapist have sowed fear among residents in Antiquera and Maribojoc towns.
Residents have armed themselves with night-sticks, bolos, and other bladed weapons against the said subject.
Obenza underlines that the police remains under control. He said he is confident that the suspect will finally be arrested in the next few days.
The rape and murder of the child happened a few years back.
The police say that he is an alleged suspect in the killing of his own father.
That neither are the authorities are not on the trail of the suspect.
