Bohol Series of Robberies: Latest is Gasoline Station in Batuan
« on: September 08, 2008, 03:00:02 AM »
By Sunday Post

One  robbery suspect was killed while two of his companions escaped after they held up a gasoline station in Batuan late yesterday afternoon.

According to PO1 Edwin Alimpolos of the Batuan Police Station, local authorities are yet to ascertain how much was carted away by the robbers.

The Batuan incident is the latest of the string of robbery cases pulled off in the province of Bohol.

With the gasoline station operator still in shock, the Batuan police are still facing a blank wall as to the loot of the heist. The owner was identified as Boboy Tajale.

It was gathered that the Batuan police got a telephone call from a neighbor of the nearby gasoline station while the robbery in progress. The gas station is located about 300 meters away from the police station.

In an interview with PO1 Alimpolos, he said  he was surprised to see one of the suspects gasping for breath in the middle of the highway as he and his policemen-buddies responded the robbery alarm. He cannot tell who shot the suspect but it was possible that one of their companions must have finished him off. The wounded suspect died however on arrival at the Semeon Toribio Memorial Hosp[ital in Carmen, located about three kilometers from the crime scene.

The two fleeing suspects tried to bring along their wounded pal  but the motorcycle they were riding suffered a flat tire.

An approaching motorcycle was commandeered by the two enroute to Carmen leaving behind their dying cohort.

It was at this point that responding policemen brought the wounded suspect to the nearby Carmen hospital.

Asked if the robbers wore masks, PO1 Alimpolos said they were bare faced. The policeman later learned that a bonnet of the dead robber was found in his pocket.

Asked further if the robbers were able to cart a sizable  amount, PO1 Alimpolos said it was not possible because the turn of events was so sudden that they have no time to scoop the day’s cash sales of the gas station.

Until late last night, it remained a mystery to the Batuan police who shot to death one of the hold uppers.

The lone fatality was also unidentified as of last night because no identification card was found in his possession.

However, a Carmen resident identified as Reineria Lomod, nurse-on-duty at the Carmen hospital said in a latter interview  that some people who visited the mortal remains of the dead man suspected him of being from Dagohoy.

Another policeman  PO1 Ronelo Gambalon of the Carmen Police Station told the Post that before the Batuan  caper, Carmen already experienced a series of hold ups with no suspects being haled to jail.

The same policeman said at least three robberies took place in successive fashion last Monday involving collectors of the lending firm Taytay sa Kauswagan, Inc. The TSKI is the favorite target of robbers that being a victim of hold-ups was no longer news..

Another collector of the lending firm CARD based in Carmen  was also robbed of P8,000 along with his  cell phone unit after making the rounds of clients in barangay La Salvacion.

Also in Carmen, a rice dealer was divested of P83,000 by unknown suspects while tending her store at the Carmen Public Market. She was identified as Juling Buaya who was divested of the cash while entertaining customers at her store.

As of last night (09/08/2008) during a live on-air interview at radio station DYTR the deceased robber was shot by the owner of the establishment in defence or in retaliation (as the case may be). The owner happens to be a member of a Gun Club and the handgun is licensed. Good for the owner, bad for the robber. This further encourages me to buy my own firearm, have it registered, join a gun club and start hunting and shooting these lawless elements... aka vigilantism and bounty-hunting specially those in the most wanted list. It's good business, especially if you start selecting those with rewards of P150,000 up

lawless elements are starting to proliferate in bohol trying to mess up the peace and order in the province where the crime rate is not high.

if the police has not been able to do anything about these series of hold-ups and othr crimes in bohol, then i think it's about time that civic-conscious citizens like ZecurB be allowed to hunt these people down and shoot them like rabid dogs that they truly are. vigilanteism sounds acceptable but only if it is limited to known and certified bad elements. this is how davao city gets rid of its bad elements.   sure, killing these people doesn't deter them from committing further crimes but i guess the point in vigilanteism should not be deterrence but reduction of criminal elements.

Due to series of crimes occuring in Bohol, it is high time that the local PNP will review on their security procedure, the local official itself thru the concerted effort of the populace is a big step in crime prevention. if possible dimly part should be lighted and barangay tanods should be paid accordingly to get best results.

im sorry to say this. but im belittling the capacity and the ability of the police force in bohol. burglary in my brother in law's house is still unsolve for over 2 years now. i doubt if they can solve the series of robberies too. i think they need more schooling. i've known many good policemen from bohol but they are not working there. they are working in the big cities like metro manila and cebu.

haaay naunsa na man intawn ning atong yutang natawhan oy. I really dont know what should be the saving solution for all our problems. everything is getting complicated. I believe these crimes, corruption, bad politicking and rebellion have just one source and that is poverty. What do you think guys?

i think it's all about people who seem to resort in easy money making activities. i don't believe poverty is a hindrance. i've seen a lot of boholanos moved to other places to find jobs. most of them are high school graduates at least while most are average college graduates.
