Boheco receives 9 awards

Itable enters Hall of Fame
as Manager of the Year

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) honored outstanding electric cooperatives from the 61 Category A+ electric cooperatives (ECs) during the 2nd Lumens Awards for the Outstanding ECs 2007 at the Cebu Parklane International Hotel yesterday.

"The Lumens awards are given to those who are and which are luminaries in the field of rural electrification, those who and which continue to inspire and make a difference," said NEA administrator Edita S. Bueno in a press statement.

NEA’s performance measures are focused on five distinct areas namely, Service Excellence; Operational Performance; Corporate Social Responsibility; Sustainability and Best Practices.

Prior to the selection of the luminaries, ECs supervised by the NEA were categorized or rated on their 2007 performance based on the following criteria: amortization payment, system loss, collection efficiency, payment to generation companies and the National Transmission Corp., non-power cost and barangay energization.

Among the cooperatives cited was the Bohol I Electric Cooperative, Inc., which received nine awards including the Grand Hall of Fame Award for its good track record, consistent outstanding performance and achievements, and the Grand Hall of Fame Manager of the Year Award for its general manager, engineer Carlos B. Itable.

Meanwhile, the Davao del Sur Electric Cooperative, Inc. and Misamis Oriental I Rural Electric Service, Inc. were given the Emmanuel N. Pelaez Award for the Best EC of the Year; while their general managers, engineers Jesus P. Dela Victoria and Julie B. Real, respectively, were given the Pedro G. Dumol Award for Best General Manager of the Year, along with engineer Wilfred L. Billena of the Iloilo I Electric Cooperative, Inc.

Cebu III Electric Cooperative, Inc. was given the Sustained Grand Hall of Fame Award and seven other awards, while the Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative, Inc., Samar II Electric Cooperative, Inc. and Siargao Electric Cooperative, Inc. were given the Administrator’s Award in acknowledgment of their good performance beyond the mandate of electrifying the countryside

The Turnaround EC Award, which is granted to ECs that have made outstanding improvements in their performance resulting in a significant level of improvement in their category went to the Zamboanga del Sur I Electric Cooperative, Inc. and Davao del Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc.

Pampanga I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (PELCO I) received the most Improved EC Award.
