By Sunday Post The local National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) bagged a suspected illegal recruiter in an entrapment operations conducted Friday morning in a coffee shop inside the Island City Mall, this city.
According to lawyer Ramil Cortez, assistant NBI-Bohol head, he headed a five-man team to capture the illegal recruiter who duped at least three unsuspecting victims.
Caught in the act of accepting bribe money from NBI agents was a certain Christopher “Sonny’ Villanueva of Cortes town although he hails from Mindanao.
According to the NBI team leader, the suspect who was reported to have pocketed at least P500,000 from his victims is facing a case of large scale estafa before the city prosecutor’s office. The case will be filed tomorrow. The marked money amounted to $800. Since the marked money was denominated in dollars, it was presumed that the promised jobs is in the land of milk and honey.
Interviewed after the entrapment operations, the suspect bared that he remitted the money to a contact in Manila whom he did not identify.
Married to a woman from Cortes, Villanueva was said to have victimized his supposed customers identified as Socorro Lasmarias and Lolita Ramos. The third victim was not identified in the complaint.
