4 suspects in rape-slay of Marawi City girl executed – sources

August 18th, 2015

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — The four arrested suspects in the rape-slay of a 14-year old girl in Marawi City were shot to death early Tuesday somewhere in Bayang town in Lanao del Sur, sources confirmed to the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

But the four suspects were never formally charged, even after they allegedly admitted in a video to raping and killing the victim while her parents were on congregational Muslim prayer Friday noon in Barangay Basak Malutlut, Marawi City.

The four— identified as Salman Udag Sambitory, Jabbar Rikta Macacua, Elias Kamote Pimping and Jalil Alilit Sani — were arrested by policemen early Sunday, with the help of civilians, who identified them as those who hastily came out of the victim’s family house, said Vice-Governor Haroun Al-Rashid Lucman of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

MARAWI CITY, Philippines — It was the families of the four suspects in the August 14 rape-slay here of a 13-year-old Maranaw girl that volunteered their execution, community elders said Wednesday.

Barangay officials here and in nearby Lanao del Sur towns confirmed that all of four confessed rape suspects—Jabbar Macacua, Elias Pimping, Salman Udag and Jalil Sani—had been killed one after another by angry relatives of the rape victim after the police set them free Monday.

The four were first arrested over the weekend with the help of vigilant Marawi City residents, detained at the city jail, but eventually set free owing to the absence of complainants.

"The police released the suspects because no one filed any complaint against them," said a prominent Maranaw community elder, who asked not to be identified.

Highly-placed sources, among them local officials, said the four suspects had been killed one after another before dawn Tuesday.

The sources also confirmed that the parents of the four rapists had signed waivers stating that the relatives of the Maranaw girl they raped can execute them if they want just to protect other family members from vendetta attacks.
