Gadapan vs. Tinampay in WBF Asia Pac title-fight set Jan. 31 in Iligan City
DAVAO CITY, Jan. 18 (PNA) -- Hometown ring idol Jonel Gadapan will be fighting Nelson Tinampay of Bohol for the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) Asia Pacific lightweight title on January 31 in Iligan City.
Gadapan has record of 10 wins with 6 knockouts against 8 loses and 2 draws while Tinampay is toting 9 wins with 4 KOs and only one defeat.
Gadapan, however, is coming from a first round technical knockout victory against Roland Teofilo held last November 22 at the Iligan Central Market gym.
He bounced back after losing also by a first round TKO against Adones Cabalquinto in their Philippine super lightweight title-fight held May 30 last year at the Lagao gym in General Santos City.
Gadapan also scored a TKO win against Yuji Itani in the 2nd round held at the Bunka Center in Sanda, Hyogo, Japan on November 1, 2014.
Tinampay, on the other hand, started his career with 6W-1D before suffering his first loss against the experienced journeyman Rodel Wenceslao of Cebu in 2014.
Tinampay has since bounced back with victories against William George (unanimous decision) and Richard Betos (6th round technical decision) last year. (PNA)
