It was reported in philboxing.com site that Michael Aldeguer, CEO of Ala Promotions, would refund tickets purchased for the March 3 fight of Rey "Boom-boom" Bautista (33 fights, 2 defeats) and Genaro Garcia (10 wins, 11 losses) of Mexico.
The Pinoy Pride 12, to be aired over ABS-CBN on March 4, 2012 (Sunday), has become a laughingstock among boxing fans in Bohol.
Thousands of Boholanos made a mass exodus from the Carlos P Garcia Complex long before their very own Boom-boom Bautista could throw his first punch. Deafening boos and expressions of disgusts filled the air as soon as the bell rang in the first round.
Bautista was fighting a fake Garcia whom people consider a beer drinker because of his protruding belly, reports said.
The boxing scam was not Bautista's fault, but the Boholano people deserve an explanation.
