Tagbilaran Port Yuletide tree contest launched
Published December 9, 2001 by Bohol Sunday Post - A Christmas Tree Contest was launched yesterday at the City's premier port with Governor Erico Aumentado, Vice Mayor Jorge Cabalit and Tagbilaran Port Manager Josephus Villamor switching the button that simultaneously lit 16 Christmas trees put up by various barangays and NGOs in the city.
The participants in the contest were barangays Bool, Booy, Cabawan, Cogon, Dampas, Dao, Manga, Poblacion 1 and 2, Taloto, Tiptip, and Ubujan.
Those from the private sector were Bohol Tourist Transport Association, Panglao Golden Coco Resort, Tagbilaran Federated Market Vendors Association and Tagbilaran Port Vendors Association.
The Association of Ilonggos in Bohol, a civic organization, sponsored the contest as its humble contribution to the tourism programs of the City of Tagbilaran and the Province of Bohol.
The glittering ornamented Christmas trees will surely be a delightful sight to welcome arriving travelers. To departing visitors, the Association hopes that the glimmer of lights from all the Christmas trees will also be a reminiscence of the charms of the island province of Bohol and the graciousness of the people of Tagbilaran.
Winners will receive P5,000 for first prize; P3,000 and P2,000 for second and third prize, respectively. Non-winners will get P1,000 each as consolation prize.
