Earthquake hits 4 Bohol townsPublished: January 14, 2001 - Bohol Chronicle
A mild earthquake of Intensity 3 shook four towns at 4:52 p.m. yesterday, in what was the first to be felt here since 1990.
The tremor was recorded for three seconds in the towns of Anda, Duero, Mabini, Danao, and Guindulman.
A check with the Municipal Disaster Coordinating Council of the four municipalities confirmed that the tremor did not register any damage on government or private properties as well as to farmlands.
The quake was of tectonic origin spotted between Maasin, Southern Leyte and Anda town, where the eye of the quake was recorded.
Gov. Rene Relampagos, chair of the Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council likewise confirmed that there was no single damage of the quake.
Bohol was last hit by a strong Intensity 7 quake on Feb. 8, 1990 damage to properties reached P11.6 million, killing an unidentified child in a barangay in Valencia town. Badly hit were the towns of Garcia Hernandez, Jagna, Duero, Guindulman, Candijay, and Anda. The Jagna Catholic Church was severely managed. The quake prior this was on Sept. 6, 1936 at Intensity 8.
