Durano OKs 7 “new” Bohol road projects, friendship hi-way
Published on October 8, 2006 - The Bohol Standard Newspaper

TOURISM Sec. Joseph Ace Durano Wednesday endorsed to the Presidential Management Staff (PMS) seven “new” priority Bohol road and bridge projects – bringing them still another step closer to realization.

The approval came during the Infrastructure Summit initiated by the PMS at the Dusit Hotel in Makati City . Durano is President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s Cabinet Officer for the Central Philippines Super Region.

Bohol Gov. Erico Aumentado practically brought to the summit his “wish list” – the Bohol Circumferential Road Improvement Project Phase 3 (BCRIP 3), the Loay Interior Road (LIR) to Trinidad, the Tubigon to Jagna Port-to-Port Highway, the LIR (Junction Dat-an) Carmen-Sierra Bullones-Pilar-Alicia Road, two Panglao Island Tourism Estate (PITE) Road Networks and the Trans-Visayas Friendship Bridges Program.

He also submitted the same list to Sec. Arthur Yap, PMS Director General and chief for Infra Monitoring.

New in the sense that they have yet to be implemented, Aumentado however said the projects are not new ideas.

“Together with the Panglao Bohol International Airport Development Project [PBIADP], these road projects and the Friendship Bridges linking five Visayas islands are already in the Medium-Term Philippine Development Plan [MTPDP] for 2004 to 2010,” he explained.

They were also presented last July in Malacañang during the President’s PowerPoint Presentation-backed State of the Nation Address (SONA) that the governor attended. In his letters to Durano and Yap, Aumentado said Bohol is poised to develop the Anda Peninsula , which will be traversed by BCRIP 3, as the province’s next tourism destination. The area has rich eco-cultural heritage potentials on top of its white sandy beaches and historical cultural endowments, he said.

The feasibility study for BCRIP 3 is already complete – prepared pro bono by the Pacific Consultants International (PCI). The same firm also conducted the feasibility studies for BCRIP 1 and 2.

The study has been submitted to the Regional Development Council (RDC) for endorsement to the National Economic and Development Authority-Infrastructure Coordinating Committee (NEDA-ICC) Technical Board.

Romans 10:9-10
"If you declare with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."
