Special people

Tradition teaches us that Christmas is a time of celebration. It is time for joy and good tidings. The birth of the Savior brought hope into a suffering world and this is the reason why people celebrate.
With the passing of time, the Christmas celebration was reduced into a commercial activity. Businessmen and traders introduce so many ideas to make it easier for people to celebrate. Of course, the purpose is to give them more reasons to spend.
As a result, Christmas has become a very expensive celebration. People want to have something of all the things that we have learn to expect on Christmas. If there was something missing, people would no longer be satisfied with their celebration.
Christmas however can never be complete without giving. It started with God giving the world His Only Son. Unfortunately, many people want to receive instead of give and this is what complicates the situation.
Giving is for everybody because God did not distinguish between the rich and the poor. It does not mean that the poor cannot give gifts and the rich cannot receive them. For as long as people want to give, they will realize that they have something to give.
The rich however are in a better position to give. They have material possessions that are far more than what they need. There are even those who have more than they will ever need even if they live forever.
Those who are being served by workers should be more conscious of giving than receiving. Their workers are not people that they meet only on Christmas. These are people who work hard so that their businesses would make more money. If the business is good, the owners become richer.
Unfortunately, there are many rich people who give to others but do not give their workers even their due. In spite of the available and existing laws intended to ensure that workers will get what is due them on Christmas, many owners do not comply with it.
What people fail to realize is that while they may be able to cheat their workers, they will never be able to cheat God. Those who do not give what the law provides for whatever reason will not receive the blessings that God gives to those who do.
There are those who are generous to people who are far from them but are selfish to those who are close to them. They give to their fellow rich because they want something in return. But they do not give what their workers deserve.
The poor are God’s special people. He became poor because He wanted to serve like them. This Christmas, let us take time for God’s special people. We can do that by giving our workers not only what is due to them but to give generously.
Christmas can never be complete without giving.
