Bohol PNP nets 124 wild guns in six months
Published February 4, 2001 - Bohol Chronicle
The Philippine National Police recovered 124 assorted illegal firearms in Bohol in the past six months.
PNP Provincial Director P/SSupt. Lane-o Nerez reported to the Provincial Peace and Order Council meeting on Wednesday the "deadly" collection which included both confiscated and surrendered guns.
Nerez warned those who illegally possess firearms to surrender them, otherwise the law would be harsh on them especially during the strict implementation of  Comelec gun ban.
Among the unlicensed firearms now in the hands of the PNP, 65 were surrendered, 48 were confiscated and 11 were recovered from various sources.
The PNP started to implement its so-called LOI Katapat-Siete in August, last year, aside from its information drive aired in Tingog sa Kasundalohan ug Kapolisan over DYRD.
The LOI Katapat-Siete goes after the owners of illegal firearms and those who carry licensed firearms but have no permits to carry guns outside their residences.
As of the PPOC meeting last week, 69 gun holders had so far renewed their licenses.
Nerez expected more to apply for permit renewal since many gun possessors attended the gun safety seminars being recently conducted.
The Camp Dagohoy chief also directed his police station heads to confiscate the unlicensed firearms owned or possessed by the policemen themselves.
In January alone, four illegal carriers of firearms were arrested resulting to the seizure of four guns. Five more firearms were surrendered while one was recovered within the same period. (VCA)

Romans 10:9-10
"If you declare with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."
