Lawyers raise funds for policemen facing chargesPublished on June 4, 2000 by The Bohol Chronicle
Boholano lawyers are raising money to fund the litigation expenses of police officers and other law enforcers who are being countercharged as a consequence of official acts.
Various sectors in the community are cautious, however, wheter the cops who face countercharges today all deserve to benefit from the project.
The amount generated by the Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Bohol Chapter will be used for the Legal Assistance for Effective Law Enforcement Program (LAELEP).
The provincial government is coordinating with the IBP in implementing the program.
Kagawad Tomas Abapo, Jr. Said all requirements to conduct fund-raising activities for the police should be complied with.
Abapo, a former IBP-Bohol president, sponsored on Friday a Sangguniang Panlalawgian resolution authorizing the IBP to raise funds for the purpose.
