Today I attended a medical conference discussing Advanced Cardiac Recitative Efforts, effectively another ACLS class that is required by all medical interns. A good friend of mine, Jibril, whom I met back in Newark during our Board Reviews, was also present in the conference. Truly a small world. We decided to get a picture taken. Afterwards , we decided to go to the mall , incidentally, the conference was held in meeting hall in the mall.

I decided to take some pictures.

Dr. Jibril and I.  :D

My dream car. Porsche Panamera Turbo S  ;D

Very good service, and the food was sublime. :)

I had quite an interesting day. A lot of pondering today, and at the same time, reflecting on the stage of my life, my future plans, and always - eyeing the priority and the importance of my family. Thank you , Lord, for blessing me with the years you have given me in my existence. I pray and ask you bless me with countless more years, and if pleasing to you, Lord, that I may help more people with the life I have and that my skills will be of use, of value, and of appreciation to those who need it.

Salamat kaayo for everything, Lord God.

Thank You, for everything you have done for me.

Always,

Went to work, then went to campus to teach a review course. I am to receive a new syllabus for a new class i am to teach this coming week. The next course I am to teach is called "Pharmacy Technology" for Pharmacy Technologists. I was told by Dr. Maria that I will be presiding over some 30 students for this class.

This will be my first Pharmacy Technology course I will teach. I hope I will be effective in disseminating proper information to my students.

There is actually a lot of opportunity for medical education. I have a friend who is also currently finishing up his Ph.D (dual program pod sija; pariho sa ahoang program -- he is an M.D-Ph.D). Anyways, my friend just deliberated his Ph.D doctoral dissertation successfully. So I am happy to hear of his successful completion of his Doctoral Candidacy (the prestigious Ph.D program from Northwestern University).

I am so happy that he was offered a post-doctoral research position as a faculty at Loyola University , another prestigious university here in Chicago (a historically Catholic University, by the way). I found out that he is going to go into Medical Education / Medical Research in addition to practicing clinical medicine on the side. There really is a lucrative field in medical research and medical education after I found out that he was offered a very comfortable research position; dako pod diay ang sweldo he he he!

Anyways, I am inspired by his direction. Perhaps I may also apply for a full time professorial position after finishing my Ph.D doctoral candidacy. Treating patients is a noble task, definitely, but dispensing education and medical knowhow to one's students is a truly rewarding feeling.

Research,....art thou mine friend? :)

Have you all ever wondered to yourself how fast time passes? As I sit here at my office, I cannot believe that I am already 27 years old. It feels as if it was just yesterday when I was just entering college as a freshman. This morning , as i talked to my younger brother Don Rico, who is 19, I was giving him advice on applying for medical internships for his pre-medical studies. I am very happy , tho, to know that my brother is following in my footsteps in entering the medical field. Ingon siya nako, "I want to be a Doctor just like you, Kuya!". Katawa pod ko dali, mao gajud ijang choice. And knowing Don Rico's excellent study habits, and his determination, I have no doubt that he will be a great doctor. In two years time he will be preparing for the MCATS (medical college admissions test), and i want him to start preparing for that exam now. This way, by the time he takes it, he will score Above Par and will get admitted into the best schools.

So I pray that he continues with this plan -- and that it bears fruit.

My little brother who in my mind i keep on thinking of as a baby is now already 19! Paspas ra gajod ang panahon. I am so proud of him for all of his achievements and because of his determination; as a student, as a worker, and as a brother.

He truly has grown up into a fine man. :)

Yes, Bran.. Nahunahunaan na pod na nako while I'm soul-searching. I can't believe I am going 33 and still single hahahaha.. Whenever I see my niece growing up, I always tell her, "Baby, you're making your "Tata" (dili kalitok ug Tita) old.

i cannot believe that i can no longer negotiate a 100-meter dash run when i used to be a good runner enough to be a contestant in this field, nor play bowling (doctor's advice for my bad back), or even climb six flights of stairs without stopping midway to catch my breath.  how fast time flies, but it seems i have flown faster in age.  there, there, now i'm telling myself not to regret anything...

Jenneth,

Paspas ra gajod kaajo ang panahon. Truly. I can still remember when I was still a child , karon, as I look at the mirror, its hard to believe I'm 27. But you know, after reading your personal anecdote, I guess age is nothing but a number. Even tho I am 27 , I still feel like I am 18 years old. Ha ha ha ! If you know what I mean. ;-)

And by the way, 33 is still young pa man. I guess we are in the same age group, Jenneth. In that late 20's, early 30's grouping. he he he!

Dont worry about being single. Just think -- you just haven't met the right guy yet. I'm sure you'll meet him soon.

Gotta keep on aiming to find that Quality guy, babe.

:)

Ah, but my dear isles, age is nothing but a number. If you never told me how old you are, just by reading your posts--- the fiestyness of your postings would deign me to guess you are still in your early 20's or even -- ehem, late teens. ;D

Just got back from the gym. O man. I am tired !

glad you're laughing over it.  really, that's nothing to get anxious about.  we know of married ones who are dying to get out of their marriage.  besides, single blessedness is a choice.  been there.  only the teases and being paired with just about any available guy are the irritants.  but these too shall pass.  what is constant is you will always be your own person. :)

You know, dili sa panghambog or something, but I laughed every time I see the reaction of someone who asked how old am I.. One time my superintendent ask me (in front of supervisors also) how old i am, I said, going 33 na sir, and their reaction, "HA?!?! 33 na ka Neth? Abi namo mga 27-28 ra ka. Geez, thanks mga Ma'am mga Sir ;D ;D ;D

When you laugh at problems or in any difficult situation, makapabata gyud diay..

ha ha ha ha! opposite diay ta, Jenneth. Because for me, people usually think I'm older. At the hospital, people usually think I am older than my age. I usually get asked the following, "How old are you Dr. Lucino?" Mo katawa ko kai I say, "I'm 27...."

Mo ingon sila, "Whoa, really, Dr. Lucino? I thought you were in your 30's"

:P

I remember one time in college my gf at the time said to me, "Lorenzo, you're very mature for your age." I was still 21 at the time. :P

I guess thats one thing i've never done -- was being a bad boy. Di ko pala inom, di ko pala sigarilyo, i never really hung out with the party-hard crowd in my early 20's. Conserbatibo lang , kuan..very straight edge type man gud ko.

Mao na i guess people think i'm older.

Jenneth, I'm sorry that you experienced a break up with your bf.

Honesty is key in any relationship, Jenneth, and if there is no honesty, there is nothing. Its like building a house; to build a really good house, you have to set a house's foundation on solid ground. Never on sifting sand.

Being with a person who is a liar, an untrustworthy individual is like building a house on sand. So, good job on dumping that guy who was being duplicioutous with you. You deserve better than that. You're worth more than that.

Don't let him back if he's a liar and untrusworthy. If the did it once, they'll do it again. I know you'll find a better guy ; a quality guy. I'm a firm believer that God will send someone along the way to complement you.

those six years were not wasted, as you may admit deep within you.  but take your time... to forgive, if he's worth it in your estimation.  whatever, see to it that you remain kind to yourself.  what i also mean is to never make the mistake of having him as an emotional crutch because of your fears.  chances are the crutch might end up as a baseball bat and you are the ball.

Mao ba? Because putatively you have no dissipation you seem older? Di kasabot si Bugsay ani... :P

Bitaw, I'm scared I might end up with a wrong guy.. Mahal ang annulment. 6-year relationship with a guy ended last month.. Saon man sige man pamakak, nasakpan na deny lang gihapon. And now, he's trying to win me back.. I don't know, I'm not ready to forgive him.. who knows! ;D ;D :D

Hi Lolla! Head up! You will really feel it if he is the right one. Love is a hard drama, a series of ups and downs but at the end Happy end! Good luck! Don't u worry, it is not worth to be hurt at all. A real man must have to deserve you and your qualities!

At the end of the day, Jenneth, you have to take care of 'Numero Uno' , which is you. I'm happy you're focusing on yourself right now. You're doing the right thing; and please, don't be pressured to find a guy just because people insist or because of some mundane thinking that you have to settle. Quality over Quantity. You'll find the right guy in your own time.

Keep on smiling, keep on doing what you have to do. And know that we have your back here at Tubag Bohol. :)

Ah, but my dear isles, age is nothing but a number.

I regretfully hate to be a party pooper: wait til you get to the half century mark, mausab jud inyong perspective on age. Doctor's appointments are no jokes... joint pains are unpleasant... memory loss is embarrasing hehehe. So, don' t get old... and stay healthy!

all in a day, fr chic.  there are teenagers who go to doctors often because they have chronic diseases, probably praying that they be given the chance to reach the half-century mark.  lucky you.  memory loss?  interesting.  let it be selective memory loss. ;)

Kumusta man ang Matina Shrine? Asa man na dapit diay? Glad to hear you had a good weekend. In regards to the rain, boy i wish it would rain over here in Chicago. It's been pretty dry over here sa midwestern USA. Have a blessed week, Jenneth.

This weekend, I graded the final exam for the college Human Anatomy & Physiology course that I teach at Northwestern. An hour prior to the beginning of the exam, I took some pictures of the empty class:

Jenneth,

Kumusta man ang Matina Shrine? Asa man na dapit diay? Glad to hear you had a good weekend. In regards to the rain, boy i wish it would rain over here in Chicago. It's been pretty dry over here sa midwestern USA. Have a blessed week, Jenneth.

Regards!

Salamat. It's in Davao Bran.. It's a place where you can meditate..so peaceful and relaxing, naa pod sila Mass ug novena didto. A great place for soul searching for me ^__^

He he he, you know it is an internal blessedness one feels when one can find a place for quiet discernment and prayer. Glad to know that you found it at Matina. Now thinking of it, Jenneth, its been a while since I had a "soul searching" experience where I had quiet contemplation. Your weekend experienc is quite inspiring!

I can't sleep. I just finished typing up another medical report couple of hours ago. I guess the 16 oz cup of coffee and its caffeinated effects is keeping me up. So might as well enjoy some soothing catholic hymnals of praise.

one song that i'm listening to right now is called "the summons".

its actually a very beautiful hymnal.

The lyrics to the song "the summons":

Will you come and follow me if I but call your name?
Will you go where you don't know and never be the same?
Will you let my love be shown? Will you let my name be known,
will you let my life be grown in you and you in me?

Will you leave yourself behind if I but call your name?
Will you care for cruel and kind and never be the same?
Will you risk the hostile stare should your life attract or scare?
Will you let me answer prayer in you and you in me?

Will you let the blinded see if I but call your name?
Will you set the prisoners free and never be the same?
Will you kiss the leper clean and do such as this unseen,
and admit to what I mean in you and you in me?

Will you love the "you" you hide if I but call your name?
Will you quell the fear inside and never be the same?
Will you use the faith you've found to reshape the world around,
through my sight and touch and sound in you and you in me?

Lord your summons echoes true when you but call my name.
Let me turn and follow you and never be the same.
In Your company I'll go where Your love and footsteps show.
Thus I'll move and live and grow in you and you in me.
