I came in to my shift at 9:18 am, and already there were 5 nurses and 1 M.D who was in the office looking at paper work that was done last week. Delikado man gud ning mga reports sa hospital, isles, defensive medicine na ning kalakiha. Anyways, so because of the resignation of our departmental secretary, na gubot gubot ang situwasyon, na wala ang papers, wa gi ingnan ang program director, na suko pod ang d.o.n (director of nursing) kai wai kuno ning coordinate ang mga doctors sa nursing staff regarding these two particular patients. I was called in to talk to the d.o.n and the program director because I was one of 3 people on call that day ang gi blame-an ko , even tho i was not responsible for that particular patient. Arang ning taas ahoang dugo, and i did not like the back talking of some nurses and some office people there. After i left the office of the program director and having words with the d.o.n, i was so irritated that i was about to confront the people who were blaming me and my other colleague. I really was about to loose my cool. Hapit gajod. Ning kalma lang ko, i prayed 1 our father , 1 hail mary, and asked for the strength to swallow my pride, and to accept correction even tho i knew i was not at fault, even tho i knew it was someone else who failed to fill patient information. whatever na lang.
later that day, i talked to the head of human resources, who is a pinoy and an ex-priest. haha. he talked to me about the significance of coordination with staff, and even tho dili nako ang fault, to not take things personally. cebuano ni siya, si leo, so he made jokes to make me laugh, na wala ra pod ahoang na sukooan. after talking to him, i logged on to tb, and prayed as i typed it. na wala ra sad.
as i finished my rounds tonight, there was one old patient who called to me, she touched my arms, smiled at me, and said, "thank you, doctor. thank you." i said to her, "why are you thanking me?" and the patient said, "thank you for being here." i looked at her, smiled, and touched her hand before walking out.
its the small things like that...that makes it all worth while.
for the love of the patients.
