Interns In New York City
« on: February 25, 2010, 10:39:10 AM »
This weekend, a group of my medical intern batch decided to take a break from work.
We drove to downtown Manhattan New York City, and enjoyed the evening at Greenwich Village.
We went to a wine bar, which also had an exquisite belly dancer entertain us. Hooka was served. Light delicacies.

The wine was superb. Exquisitely New York in taste and feel.

Taken at a Hooka/Wine Bar in Greenwich Village in downtown New York City.

Lebanese Belly Dancer. Provided the authentic vibe.

Lebanese-Style Hooka.
Exquisite.

Pinot Bianco; White Wine.
Perfect.

Yes, all of us guys were such in a rush to go to NYC that all of us forgot to bring our actual cameras. Save for the build in cameras in our phones. lol.

As for prices in NYC, yes, its a bit heavy, but there are good places and bars that are reasonable in price. We mainly stayed in East Greenwich Village, which is a yuppie district (new generation; young technocrats). So the vibe and feel was filled with individuals in the same age group and what not.

It was really relaxing. To relax and to just enjoy the city life (even if is just for the day).

Perhaps someday I should visit Germany. I hear the city life over there in Deutschland is amazing.

It´s hard to tell since the Germans have another lifestyle and sense of humor.
The best places to go are Berlin, Cologne and Hamburg.

I'll take that into consideration. I've been planning in visiting Germany for quite some time now; its part of my plan to visit Western Europe in the not too distant future. I have been to Amsterdam (Nederlandse), Kiev (Ukraine), Odessa (Ukraine), and Moscow (Russia). The night life as well as the social life over there is indeed, intriguing. Europeans, in general, or if I may generalize about Eastern Europeans, have a very 'touchy' aura. There is very little sense of personal space, and when they speak it is to your face; as in face-to-face. ha ha ha.

I studied 6 months in Ukraine in an exchange program; those 6 months were marvelous. I toured neighboring Poland, Romania and Moldova. All of these countries were part of the greater economic sphere with Ukraine and the Russian Hegemon.

What I do miss the most is walking by the kiasks of downtown Kiev, and sitting in an unknown cafe. Bringing my book and just sitting there drinking my expressos and reading my book(s) for hours. And just see the Ukrainians walk by. Absorbing everything in. And learning how to read/understand/write in cyrillic. Truly, foreign, in all of its aspects.

Loved it.

One thing that I notice: the major difference between the city life in NYC and in Kiev/Moscow

is the truly fast-pased lifestyle in NYC. I do truly miss that quaint "European" feel in Kiev, and Moscow.

'Zdraste Wvidya. Splasebo.'

Ah, good times.

Hey islander! Welcome to Tubag Bohol!
I meant to say espresso not expresso. I stand corrected.
