My first flight I ever went on by myself, was going to Arizona. It was a little scary at first, but with the help of many flight attendants everything was smooth flying from there on. When my parents took me to the airport I almost cried and almost decided not to go by my self. I was 10 years old. My flight to Arizona took almost 12 hours and had 2 stop over.
When I was inside the airplane I cant help it but cried because I miss my Mom and Dad. I saw my Mom cried too when she kissed me goodbye. I traveled first class back and fourth. The scary thing was when I arrived in Phoenix no one was there to pick me up at the airport, but eventually 1 hour later my Grandpa and Grandma both showed up after the flight attendant called their names on the intercom. Grandma thought that they will meet me at the baggage claim area but the flight attendant wont let me go out until my grandma showed up at counter area, my cellphone was low battery. I was speechless when I saw my Grandpa and Grandma, I thought I was lost and I still misses my Mom and Dad.
Coming back home is another story. I want my Mom and Dad to pick me up in Arizona. I cried every night after talking to my Mom and Dad on the phone and Mom cried too, we both miss each other. It was a wrong time to leave my Mom because she was so depressed after having a miscarried but we already planed my vacation way ahead. When I left in Arizona I cried too because I miss my Grandpa and my Grandma. I was stocked in Seattle airport for 6 hours oh scary but the airport have a special room for un attended minors, I have my own flight attendant with me all the times, very helpful lady we watch 2 movie, gave me lots of snacks and played games until it was time to board the plane.
Finally I arrived in Fairbanks, Alaska safe and sound! This is my story!
How about yours?
Hey, i felt pretty sad about you leaving your mom, little bro. Yea its always scary the first time we leave our parents, but you're such a strong kid thats why you were able to do it.
I can remember the first my mom left me and my sister, Kyle. It was hard because this was like in 1990, and my dad was still working in Saudi Arabia as an Engineer so we only got to see him probably 1 month a year, so whenever he left for Saudi, I was still probably 4 and my sister was only 3 years old; and it was already regular for this to occur. (I can remember one time when he was getting ready again to go back to Saudi--packed his things in his suit case and I didn't want him to go raba, he told me that he'll get me more lego toys ug mo adto siya sa Saudi, pero i didnt want the toys, I just wanted my Dad to be with us--lol, my logic at the time was very limited as a child. I decided to pack my clothes pood in a small suite case and by the time my dad got his things ready in the living room--my things were already ready. hahahaha. He said to me, "Mo asa man diay ka, doy" (where are you going, son"?) ingoon ko "Gusto ko mo kuyug, Daddy" (i want to go with you, daddy).
I still remember that, you know. And my dad tells me that story, he always cries.
It was also hard because that same year he left again, my mom left for the USA for nursing. O god it was so bad, because my little sister was a very 'mommy's girl' and I was close to mommy. I remember us kids crying and the yayas keeping us quiet after she left. Whenever she called back from the 'states, my little sister would ask her on the phone, "Mommy, mommy, mo balika na ka, mommy?" {mommy, when are you coming home?}. sus luuy pood ahong igsoon, because she would always cry, she was only 3 years old. She would take my mommy's dastir {a house dress} and hold it when she went to sleep. Thats how she missed our mommy.
Pero thank god, by 1991, we were able to go to the US. Thanks to President Bush Sr's 'family act' allowing foreign workers to bring family to the states. So our family was united. It was the first time i took the plane, i went with my dad, mom and my little sister. The experience was fun jud, the take off was exciting, though the food wasn't the best. Me and my sister were just happy to be with our mommy and daddy. Nothing else mattered.
And now, they added 2 little brothers for me and my sister to care after
What more can a big brother want? hahahaha
