Sad Escalator Stories.

Andrea Albright's head got caught between the escalator's handrail and the adjacent wall as she rode the escalator from the first to the second floor on June 15, 2002, a Saturday, while she was at work in the J.C. Penney store at the Mall in Columbia.. she died
her parent's filed a case against the establishement, they won.

From roommate - a three year old boy lost his foot because his shoe got stuck in the escalator, They were not able to pull it out na,
My friend heard the cries of the boy and his mom. This one happened at Robinson's Place Cebu.

- the incident happened at SM Cebu Northwing last August 06, 2008. A boy suddenly shouted because his hand got stuck sa elevator kuyog iya papa. A split second lang jud nga wala nabantayan sa dad. Good thing, na kuha nila ang hand. but there is no update yet if the boy was able to keep his hand or not. I have pictures . But at that time gibawalan daw sa guard magtake og pics.. hmm basin lang ba bawal.

Is the establishment really at fault? Or is it a case of parent's negligence?

lagi..naa man jud mga disadvantage ang mga machines khit makatabang ni nato.mao kita nlng ang mag ingat o magbantay sa mga bata kay wala raba utok ang machine.

THE ESCALATOR MANUFACTURER...or whoever installed that thing over there...

escalators should ALWAYS HAVE SENSORS and never should move when something is in between the floors ors and walls! ot what ever...

Mel you are partly correct, people should know how to ride escalators in the first place, otherwise use the stairs nalang...

The father should have had watched the kid especially in riding escalators. Kids are always kids (we don't really know how old the kid we are referring here) and always get fascinated to anything they see. Even if eventually it would be proven that the mall operators are to blame for the accident, it will not make it right anymore if the boy lost his hand or something.

If proven that there was malfunction of the switch control of the escalator, definitely the Mall owners are liable as well. They should have a routine check up of all their equipments.

Accidents happen from time to time busa it helps to be cautious all the time - especially with kids around!

Speaking of escalators in the mall, while I was still in Cagayan de oro, my aunt from Davao Oriental came to visit us. My auntie in CDO, my cousins and I took my aunt from Davao Oriental to the mall, the mall with escalator! We were all at peace roaming around the mall when we decided to go to the second floor by escalator. My CDO aunt took the lead while we followed - my Davao Oriental aunt was ahead of me while I was the last. Ga liraw2x na akong mata kay makita na bitaw unsay naka display sa next floor. Then to my big surprise, my Davao Oriental aunt, upon reaching the top of the floor, leaped up and landed so loudly on the floor with a loud thud! All the people were looking at us and she looked triumphant! My CDO aunt asked her, "ngano man ka ning lukso Florencia oi!" Her answer should be a reminder to all of us

: "Day, ingon man nila mamaak daw nang tumoy sa escalator so mao to ning lukso ko kay aron di ko ma paakan!" Nah, kusog pa bya iyang tingog and the people were trying to stifle their laughter but we can obviously tell na nalingaw sila! Take note, my Davao Oriental aunt is a veteran teacher! Sus, ning sutoy akong CDO aunt! ahahahahahah So busa, be careful people kon mosakay mo'g escalator. It's not a joke.

Hahahaha I remember my late aunt too.She didn't like to use napkins,she used pasador or cloths on her heavy days.When she was at the top of the elevator,she leaped..oh my, nahulog ang pasador.Aunt just walked away without looking at anybody. (shy)
