Last Saturday, April 26, 2008, we had a little gathering at the residence of smiffytheninja aka Alyssamarie. The occasion? Just a chance to hang out with friends and family. Well, the day before that was my loving grandfather's death anniversary. Also, a week before that, Uncle Ray, smiffy's father, was "crowned" as Fourth Degree in the Knights of Columbus. And two days before that, our friends from Cebu came back from their 3-week vacation to the Philippines. They are from Cebu but they visited Bohol for 3 days. Also, I have friends from LA and from New York who are now settling here in California so I was thinking that was the chance for them to meet my family.

Since Thursday ug to Saturday morning, I have been baking and cooking for the party, although my Tia Edna ordered most of the food in the Pinay restaurant. Hapon aka ytesski baked Mint Chocolate Cheesecake and cooked Shrimp Scampi. Since I have all the time to tinker in the kitchen, I made a lot of stuff:

Torta. Funny, the kids call my torta, muffin!

I have lots of egg white from the eggs I used when I baked the Torta since I only use egg yolks in it. I made a version of Peanut Kisses but instead I use pecan nuts. Oh, I never thought the kids would go nuts in this delicacy! It was a trial but I was so glad the kids loved this Pecan kisses!

Butterscotch. This is C2H4's favorite! I made this because my friend Amy requested this delight. I used to bake this for friends when I was still working in the bank and I have to say that Butterscotch is my "claim to fame" in baking although I prefer Mango Squares better than this. Mango Squares, Maring Bella's favorite.

I also made this:

Chocolate Brownie using Tabliya especially made by my dear mother. Sad to say, I messed up in this one. I forgot to put eggs so it landed in my garbage bag.

Walay hulagway na akong gibuhat: binignit, camote cue, ug maja blanca.

Salamat kaayo, Dong, and thank you too for appreciating my cookies! Anyway, our party was really a fun one. We started from 3:30 pm and the last guest left at 11:30 p.m. We had food and most of all the company of family and friends. It was indeed God's blessing! It was such a wonderful day. All the work of cooking and baking really paid off.

Cutting the cake. With me in this picture is Sir Knight Ed. He was one of the people in the picture.

I made Uncle Ray a carrot cake decorated with edible framed picture of their induction as Fourth Degree in the Knights of Columbus. Sad to say I wasn't able to take a picture of it while it was still whole.

Our other sud-an: beef stew, barbecued chicken, pork and beef, bam-i, sinugbang tilapia with rekados sa tiyan like tomatoes and onions, lechon manok, empanada, chopsuey, buwad na danggit courtesy of our friends who just arrived from a vacation in the Phils.

Bem, I printed the picture in an edible paper using edible ink. Rice paper man na gigamit ana pag print. Dayon, I made a frame using a sugar gum paste. I also bake cakes for a charge man pero kana kay free of charge kay family gud.

Sometimes, we go to Ross, matingala na lang ka kay naa nay ga yawyaw in Visayan language! hehehe My aunt actually have Visayan friends na ga party pod mi but Uncle Ray usually leaves the house kay di makaya kay these ladies are so noisy as in to the max. There's just so much laughter jud, Dong!

Beth, thanks! Nalingaw jud bya mi oi kay wa may arte2x. Tinuod jud ka, way ning uli na gigutom kay ma lugar-lugaran lang kadali ang tiyan kaon naman pod! I think it was 10 pm na, ayha mi nangaon ug buwad na giluto sa among friend kay di man jud pwede ila ka Tia magluto ug buwad.

About Torta, pwede kaayo oi! Natingala lagi ko kay mga bata ning kaon ug Torta pero mao lagi to, pagpanguli sa mga bata, nag ask sila ilang Mom if they can bring home "muffin" sige pod tawon pangita ang inahan ug muffin, mao man diay tong Torta ang gina mean nila ug muffin. hahahah

Last Saturday, April 26, 2008, we had a little gathering at the residence of smiffytheninja aka Alyssamarie. The occasion? Just a chance to hang out with friends and family. Well, the day before that was my loving grandfather's death anniversary. Also, a week before that, Uncle Ray, smiffy's father, was "crowned" as Fourth Degree in the Knights of Columbus. And two days before that, our friends from Cebu came back from their 3-week vacation to the Philippines. They are from Cebu but they visited Bohol for 3 days. Also, I have friends from LA and from New York who are now settling here in California so I was thinking that was the chance for them to meet my family.

Since Thursday ug to Saturday morning, I have been baking and cooking for the party, although my Tia Edna ordered most of the food in the Pinay restaurant. Hapon aka ytesski baked Mint Chocolate Cheesecake and cooked Shrimp Scampi. Since I have all the time to tinker in the kitchen, I made a lot of stuff:

Torta. Funny, the kids call my torta, muffin!

I have lots of egg white from the eggs I used when I baked the Torta since I only use egg yolks in it. I made a version of Peanut Kisses but instead I use pecan nuts. Oh, I never thought the kids would go nuts in this delicacy! It was a trial but I was so glad the kids loved this Pecan kisses!

Butterscotch. This is C2H4's favorite! I made this because my friend Amy requested this delight. I used to bake this for friends when I was still working in the bank and I have to say that Butterscotch is my "claim to fame" in baking although I prefer Mango Squares better than this. Mango Squares, Maring Bella's favorite.

Haze, padalhan man unta ka namo ni Bella but the problem is gi ingon man na dili perishable and that is perishable man tawon oi. Unya na lang pag anhi nimo dire pohon. Maayo unta pod naay mag anha diha unya sure na pag abot kuhaon dayon nimo. Or, pohon if anhi si Sis A, pagpauli nya atong i request na dalhan ka diha. What do you think?
