Allow me to make comment regarding the story that Bilar town was derived from the word “biladâ€.
In my opinion, this is misleading to real history and irrational.
First of all “bilad†is a tagalog translation for a visayan word “bulad†means dried. However, we Boholanos pronounce it as “buwad†which sounds very differently from Bilar.
I theorized that Bilar town was named after “Elvillar (Basque: Bilar)†a town and municipality located in the province of Ãlava, in the Basque Country, northern Spain.
Many of our towns were named after Spanish places or words like Sevilla, Alburquerqe, Valencia…etc.
But naming Bilar after bilad is absurd….
