I admire many personal figures in Sacred Scripture, but one who captures my attention will always be the anointed King David. David, came from humble beginnings and was a Sheppard prior to his anointing by the Most High.

David, though was weak, was able to conquer and defeat his enemies, by the Grace of Almighty God. And his song of songs to the Most High is what always touches my heart. His songs to The Lord illustrates the Love of God. And His Unparalleled Might, Justice, Power, Glory, and Beauty.
David pleased and delighted The Almighty by praising him with his voice and songs. Music, when praising God with all your heart, is one of the greatest things. As King David tended his sheep everyday as a shepherd in his younger days, he played on his harp and sang about the glory of God, as well as his love for his Father.

David's Song to The Lord (Psalm 19)

 1 The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

 2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.

3 There is no speech or language
where their voice is not heard.

4 Their voice  goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun,

5 which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.

6 It rises at one end of the heavens
       and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is hidden from its heat.

7 The law of the LORD is perfect,
       reviving the soul.
The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy,
       making wise the simple.

8 The precepts of the LORD are right,
       giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the LORD are radiant,
       giving light to the eyes.

9 The fear of the LORD is pure,
       enduring forever.
The ordinances of the LORD are sure
       and altogether righteous.

10 They are more precious than gold,
       than much pure gold;
       they are sweeter than honey,
       than honey from the comb.

 11 By them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.

12 Who can discern his errors?
       Forgive my hidden faults.

 13 Keep your servant also from willful sins;
may they not rule over me.
       Then will I be blameless,
       innocent of great transgression.

14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
       be pleasing in your sight,
O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

King David! The Anointed One!

Another favorite figure is Jacob, who is later to be known as Israel, after he wrestled with God The Father. And was blessed by The Almighty. Behold, Jacob saw the Face of God!

22And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok.

23And he took them, and sent them over the brook, and sent over that he had.

24And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

25And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

26And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

27And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.

28And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

29And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.

30And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

31And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.

32Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob's thigh in the sinew that shrank. Because Jacob was able to wrestle with the Almighty Himself.

--Genesis 32: 22-32

Another biblical figure that I keep close to my heart is the Blessed Archangel Raphael, Glorious Archangel, One who Stands Before the Throne of God. He is important to me because in a particular passage in scripture, it is revealed to us that our prayers, indeed, rise like incense to the Mighty Lord. As Angels deliver it to the Most High, as what Blessed Raphael did so in the case of Tobit and Sarah.

Scripture declares it so:

Raphael called the two men aside privately and said to them: "Thank God! Give him the praise and the glory. Before all the living, acknowledge the many good things he has done for you, by blessing and extolling his name in song. Before all men, honor and proclaim God's deeds, and do not be slack in praising him.
A king's secret it is prudent to keep, but the works of God are to be declared and made known. Praise them with due honor. Do good, and evil will not find its way to you.
Prayer and fasting are good, but better than either is almsgiving accompanied by righteousness. A little with righteousness is better than abundance with wickedness. It is better to give alms than to store up gold;for almsgiving saves one from death and expiates every sin. Those who regularly give alms shall enjoy a full life;

but those habitually guilty of sin are their own worst enemies.
"I will now tell you the whole truth; I will conceal nothing at all from you. I have already said to you, 'A king's secret it is prudent to keep, but the works of God are to be made known with due honor.'

I can now tell you that when you, Tobit, and Sarah prayed, it was I who presented and read the record of your prayer before the Glory of the Lord; and I did the same thing when you used to bury the dead. When you did not hesitate to get up and leave your dinner in order to go and bury the dead, I was sent to put you to the test. At the same time, however, God commissioned me to heal you and your daughter-in-law Sarah.

I am Raphael, one of the seven angels who enter and serve before the Glory of the Lord."

Stricken with fear, the two men fell to the ground.

But Raphael said to them: "No need to fear; you are safe. Thank God now and forever.
As for me, when I came to you it was not out of any favor on my part, but because it was God's will. So continue to thank him every day; praise him with song.
Even though you watched me eat and drink, I did not really do so; what you were seeing was a vision.

So now get up from the ground and praise God. Behold, I am about to ascend to him who sent me; write down all these things that have happened to you." When Raphael ascended they rose to their feet and could no longer see him.

They kept thanking God and singing his praises; and they continued to acknowledge these marvelous deeds which he had done when the angel of God appeared to them.

--Tobit: 12: 6-22

4 He struggled with the angel and overcame him;
he wept and begged for his favor.
       He found him at Bethel
       and talked with him there-

 5 the LORD God Almighty,
the LORD is his name of renown!

 6 But you must return to your God;
       maintain love and justice,
and wait for your God always.

--Hosea 12: 4-6

Blessed Is Jacob, who was able to wrestle with the Almighty and still survived.
What a man, Jacob must have been!
To have seen the Face of God.

King Solomon the Wise, most favored of God.

One woman said: "By your leave, my lord, this woman and I live in the same house, and I gave birth in the house while she was present.
18
On the third day after I gave birth, this woman also gave birth. We were alone in the house; there was no one there but us two.
19
This woman's son died during the night; she smothered him by lying on him.
20
Later that night she got up and took my son from my side, as I, your handmaid, was sleeping. Then she laid him in her bosom, after she had laid her dead child in my bosom.
21
I rose in the morning to nurse my child, and I found him dead. But when I examined him in the morning light, I saw it was not the son whom I had borne."
22
The other woman answered, "It is not so! The living one is my son, the dead one is yours." But the first kept saying, "No, the dead one is your child, the living one is mine!" Thus they argued before the king.
23
Then the king said: "One woman claims, 'This, the living one, is my child, and the dead one is yours.' The other answers, 'No! The dead one is your child; the living one is mine.'"
24
The king continued, "Get me a sword." When they brought the sword before him,
25
he said, "Cut the living child in two, and give half to one woman and half to the other."
26
The woman whose son it was, in the anguish she felt for it, said to the king, "Please, my lord, give her the living child--please do not kill it!" The other, however, said, "It shall be neither mine nor yours. Divide it!"
27
The king then answered, "Give the first one the living child! By no means kill it, for she is the mother."
28
When all Israel heard the judgment the king had given, they were in awe of him, because they saw that the king had in him the wisdom of God for giving judgment.

St. Peter, The Apostle.

He (Jesus) said to them, "But who do you say that I am?"

Simon Peter said in reply, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God."

Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.

And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church,  and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.

I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven.  Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

Then he strictly ordered his disciples to tell no one that he was the Messiah.

Matthew 16: 16-20

Another important biblical figure that I admire:

St. Michael The Archangel

But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"

-Jude 1:9

and

And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

-Daniel 12:1-3

The Prophet Moses

As the chosen messenger of the Almighty in the old days, by Grace of The Almighty, Moses led the Israelites from bondage in Egypt to the promised land (tho Moses never lived to see the Promise Land)

Moses was raised as a family of Pharaoh, brought as a noble Egyptian, but gave up nobility and riches of a pagan life, to be the voice of the Most High. A messenger to His people, O Israel.

And when she could hide him no longer she took for him a basket made of bulrushes, and daubed it with bitumen and pitch; and she put the child in it and placed it among the reeds at the river's brink. And his sister stood at a distance, to know what would be done to him. Now the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river, and her maidens walked beside the river; she saw the basket among the reeds and sent her maid to fetch it. When she opened it she saw the child; and lo, the babe was crying. She took pity on him and said, "This is one of the Hebrews' children. ... And the child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son; and she named him Moses, for she said, "Because I drew him out of the water."

St. John The Baptist
The Final Prophet of God.

Blessed John the Baptist was the last and final prophet of the Lord Our God.
His ministry in the Jordan, preaching and baptizing in water and fortelling of the salvation of the Lord completed the message by earlier contemporary, Isaiah.

The Prophet Isaiah said:

"The prophet Isaiah had reminded the people to be prepared to receive the Messiah:
Prepare a road for the Lord through the wilderness,
clear a highway across the desert for our God
Every valley shall be lifted up,
every mountain and hill brought down;
the rugged place shall be made smooth
and mountain ranges become a plain."

(Isaiah 40:3-4)

This was also the message of John the Baptist. He was the voice in the wilderness exhorting the people to be ready, to prepare themselves morally and spiritually to receive the Messiah, who is Christ Jesus.

1  The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
2As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
3The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
4John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
5And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.
 6And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;
7And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.
8I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
9And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
10And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:
11And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Mark 1: 1-8

GIDEON, not only because it forms part of my first name but I am also the kind of guy who likes it when the odds are against me...

Gideon, is also very lucky to have been answered concretely by the Lord Our God.

He tested the faith, and The Lord Answered:

36Then Gideon said to God, "You say that you have decided to use me to rescue Israel. 37Well, I am putting some wool on the ground where we thresh the wheat. If in the morning there is dew only on the wool but not on the ground, then I will know that you are going to use me to rescue Israel." 38That is exactly what happened. When Gideon got up early the next morning, he squeezed the wool and wrung enough dew out of it to fill a bowl with water. 39Then Gideon said to God, "Don't be angry with me; let me speak just once more. Please let me make one more test with the wool. This time let the wool be dry, and the ground be wet." 40 That night God did that very thing. The next morning the wool was dry, but the ground was wet with dew.
Judges 6:36-40

God chose Gideon, to remind the people of Israel from worshiping foreign idols such as idols of Belezebub, Baal, Ashera, etc. Reaffirmed the faith. And faithfulness of the Lord. That His people, O Israel, were to worship only The Lord. For there are no other but Him. And the Lord Our God is a jealous God.

With his mighty hand, he smote the cities of Sodom and Gamorrah into oblivion for their sexual perversity and blasphemies, with righteous hand, he annihilated the armies of Assyria that threatened Judea.

And with His Outstretched Hand, he punished Egypt, and swallowed Pharaoh's armies by the waters of the Red Sea.

Mighty and Holy is Our God!
To Him, belong all Glory, Honor and Praise!

Job. Because of his faithfulness to God.
Honoring God even as he was tested. And a faith that was rewarded. :)

I agree he's also my favorite figure. The epitome of the entire Bible.
my favorite figure is no one else but - JESUS

Mine too. He's the epitome of the entire Bible, form the prophecies to the revelations.
No other person to follow but Him.

We are already told what will happen to those who deny Jesus Christ.

1 John 2:23 resounds, "Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also."

and again in Mathew 10: 33

Jesus Said Unto Them, "But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven."

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

Now faith is the assurance that what we hope for will come about and the certainty that what we cannot see exists.
--Hebrews 11:1

For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees?
--Romans 8:24

while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
--2 Corinthians 4:18

but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house-- whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end.
--Hebrews 3:6

for we walk by faith, not by sight!
--2 Corinthians 5:7

22 Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. 23 And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, 24 but the boat by this time was a long way  from the land,  beaten by the waves, for the wind was against them. 25 And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. 26 But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” and they cried out in fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”

28 And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” 29 He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind,  he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” 31 Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

The wind and the storm is the transliteration of fear, and doubt of faith. Storms of our lives and the power of the evil unseen forces that influence even a faithful individual. These are natural, as even Peter, the first Apostle, doubted and was influenced. Yet despite his iniquities and his frailties, as a man, he nonetheless walked on the water. :)

The meaning ani, what Jesus is telling us--is to hold strong to your faith. And do not let temptation, fears, forces and powers that are seen or unseen challenge and affect your faith in Jesus.

Did not Jesus silence the storm with a mere word? :)
And when Peter began to sink because of fear and doubt, here merely begged Jesus, "LORD SAVE ME". And Jesus immediately saved him.

Call Jesus' Name now, and he will rescue you from any fears, doubt, and forces (seen or unseen) that are affecting your faith.

May the Lord God bless us, Brothers and Sisters!

Jeremiah rebuking King Joakim and reminding Joakim the evil he has committed before the eyes of the Lord God of Hosts.

---

And the word of the Lord came to Jeremias the prophet, after that the king had burnt the volume, and the words that Baruch had written from the mouth of Jeremias, saying:
Take thee again another volume: and write in it all the former words that were in the first volume which Joakim the king of Juda hath burnt.
And thou shalt say to Joakim the king of Juda: Thus saith the Lord: Thou hast burnt that volume, saying: Why hast thou written therein, and said: The king of Babylon shall come speedily, and shall lay waste this land: and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?

Therefore thus saith the Lord against Joakim the king of Juda: He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead body shall be cast out to the heat by day, and to the frost by night.
And I will punish him, and his seed and his servants, for their iniquities, and I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Juda all the evil that I have pronounced against them, but they have not heard.
And Jeremias took another volume, and gave it to Baruch the son of Nerias the scribe: who wrote in it from the mouth of Jeremias all the words of the book which Joakim the king of Juda had burnt with fire: and there were added besides many more words than had been before.

--Jeremiah 36: 26-32

The Prophet Jonas.

Ang kaluwasan anaa man kang Jehova.

Jonas 2:10
Ug gisultihan ni Jehova ang isda, ug kini misuka kang Jonas ngadto sa yuta nga mamala.

My favorite Bible character is Job.

Story of
Job
Job and his wife Lived in Uz.
Job had seven sons and 3 daughter all grown with families of their own.
Job had much land and livestock and men to help him work.
Job loved God and worshipped God everyday.

One day, the devil said to God, "You have blessed Job and given him everything is the only reason Job worships you.  If you would take away your blessings, Job would no longer praise you."
God said to the devil, " Do what you want to all that Job has but do not touch him."
The devil left God and began his evil work.

Suddenly a messenger came to Job saying, "All your oxen and donkeys are gone.  All of the men that helped you are gone."
While the messenger was still speaking, a second messenger came and said, " A huge fire has killed all the sheep."
And still a third messenger arrived saying, "Some thieves came and stole all your camels."
And still a fourth messenger arrived saying, "All of your sons and daughter were eating together when suddenly there came a huge wind and the house fell on them."
Job was so sad.
In a single day, he had lost everything.
He lost his land,
He lost his livestock.
He lost his sons and daughters.
Job fell to his knees and began worshipping God saying, "..the LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away, blessed be the name of the LORD."
After all those bad things happened to Job, He still praised God.

The devil was upset because Job was still praising God.
So he went to God and said, "If Job were hurting in his body, he would not praise you.
God answered the devil saying, "Do what you want but do not kill him."
The devil delighted in giving Job very painful sores all over his body from the soles of his feet to the top of his head.
Job had nothing
He lost his land,
He lost his livestock.
He lost his Sons and daughters.
Now he was in more pain with the sores all over his body.
Job suffered greatly.
Job's wife said to him, "Let it go.  Curse God and die"
Job answered her, "You talk like a foolish woman.  Do we only take the good and not the bad?"
Still he praised God.

Jobs friends had heard about what had happened to Job.
They decided they would go and be with him.
His friends sat with Job for one week.
His friends told Job that he had sinned and that is why all these horrible things had happened.
Job insisted that he loved God and he never sinned against him.
They would not believe him.
All of them told Job he had sinned and he must confess his sin to make things right.
Job still insisted that he had not sinned against God.
Finally his friends were quiet.  They had nothing to say to him because they felt that Job was wrong.  They thought Job felt was better than everyone else.  They knew Job had sinned and wouldn't admit it.
Finally, God spoke.
God said "Who is this that gives advice without knowledge, where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Answer if you have understanding!"
God spoke to Job of all the things he created.
God created the heavens, the earth and all that is on the earth.
Job said "I know that you can do everything, and that no thought can be withheld from you.  Therefore, I have spoken things that I did not understand.  But now I have heard you and now I understand. "
God said to Job's friends, "You have not spoken the truth of me as Job has.  Take seven bulls and seven rams and go to Job and offer them up for yourselves.  Job will pray for you and I will accept his prayer for you. "
Fearing the wrath of God, the men did as God had told them.
God accepted Job's prayer and was very pleased with Job.

As Job prayed for his friends, God returned his fortune that had been taken away by the devil.
God gave Job twice as much as he had in the beginning.
God gave him twice as many sheep.
God gave him twice as many donkeys.
God gave him twice as many camels.
God gave him twice as many yoke of oxen.
God gave him 7 sons and 3 daughters.
His daughters were the most beautiful in the land.
After all of this, Job lived 140 years and he loved God and praised him every day.

The story of Job is an inspiration. Of what True Faith is all about.

And his account illustrates to us the FAITHFULLNESS of the Good Lord.

:)

It illustrates the FATHERHOOD of GOD.

Another favorite biblical figure is Sarah and Tobit, in the Book of Tobit (found in Old Testament).

The story of Tobit, Tobias, Sarah and the Angel Raphael illustrates God's faithfullness.

This particular prayer is illustrative of how a couple should be towards each other and how their faith in God for deliverance and provision. Powerful.

:

Blessed are you, O God of our fathers; praised be your name forever and ever. Let the heavens and all your creation praise you forever. You made Adam and you gave him his wife Eve to be his help and support; and from these two the human race descended. You said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone; let us make him a partner like himself.' Now, Lord, you know that I take this wife of mine not because of lust, but for a noble purpose. Call down your mercy on me and on her, and allow us to live together to a happy old age."

-Tobit 8:5-7
