Why Go To Church?
« on: July 31, 2007, 03:04:43 AM »
A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday.  "I've gone for 30 years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 Sermons.

But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them...  So, I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all."

This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column, much to the delight of the editor.  It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:

"I've been married for 30 years now.  In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals.  But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire Menu for a single one of those meals.  But I do know this...  They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work.  If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be Spiritually dead today!"

When you are DOWN to nothing....  God is UP to Something!  Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible!

Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual Nourishment!

The Bible says not to forsake the assembling of yourselves together, much more so as you see the day approching.
If you are a real Christian you must be born again and repent of your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
If you don't go to church as a Christian you are in disobediance and therefore cant' expect God to bless disobediance.

I go to church to strengthen my soul from the bombardments of the toil we experience in daily life. I attend catholic mass every sunday to see the the good Lord and to take of his bread and to drink of his blood, in union with the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ and the Father. Life has no meaning for me, without my religion.

Ang sermon sa pari dili man jud nato mahinumduman tanan, some of it makahinumdum ta. but you will be amaze nga nisimba ka nya paggawas nimo sa simbahan wala kay nahinumduman sa gisulti sa pari although naminaw ka pag-ayo, but one day maka experience ka ug something nga ma relate sa gi sermon sa pari, and there, mo click rana sa imong huna huna nga mao nay imong nadunggan didto sa simbahan pagsimba nimo.

We thought we knows everything, but we really don't.
And we thought we don't need this thing, but the truth is we need others to remind us and to give us some info about Him and about the things He has done and He will do for us :)

Peace be with you all :)

Happs, when u attend small churches it's different...

ma absorbed nimo tanan ang gipamulong sa preacher...

i could feel like it's GOD speaking straight to ones heart...

i go to diferrent churches honestly...

and i found it out they only have one goal...to be saved...

i even dont go to church sometimes because i can always feel him in me...

Religion or a church have never touched me...

But only GOD...

You're right Belle, kay when you go to church dili man ang mga tawo imong adtuon but you went there to worship God, dili para pag worship sa pari or sa mga tawo nga naa sa simbahan.

Amen to that, 'te. Blessed are you that you feel his presence..as others do not..or they simply choose to ignore his presence.

For me, I feel at home whenever I attend a catholic mass because i've always been raised in that setting and have never really felt comfortable in other churches (though ive tried others before--for pesonal reasons). When I read the bible, listen to the word of God form the mouth of the priest, I can feel the word of Christ coming out. I go to church to release my sorrow, confess my lack of faith at times, to ask for forgiveness and when I pray the 'Our Father' prayer, and listen to my brothers and sisters--i feel content that we all are there for a reason. It strengthens my faith to know that other people too retain that faith we all share. Catholic Churches for me are very humbling..because for me..it is the House of God.

I go to church because it keeps me sane.

It sets the tone for my whole week. It gives me balance.

And like dong insoy said, the Holy Mass is a lesson in humility.

My mother. My Mom has been the one that has really influenced me to strengthen my faith, specially during times when I questioned my faith. Whenever there was something wrong going on with the family in the Philippines or whenever there was a problem in my family--my mom would always pray. I remember seeing her cry before the image of the blessed Santo Nino and praying the rosary to the Blessed Mother Mary. I would go to my mom and kneel with her and she would teach me how to pray the rosary---and I owe alot of my faith to my mom who has nurtured that faith in our family. My parents, particularly my mom, is the one that wanted my little brothers to go to catholic school and catholic high school--specially with the problems of society and the ills and temptations that prevails.

I do agree with 'te Ethyl, church and mass keeps me sane. Its a balance...
