 “Seek the Lord while he may be found;
call upon him while he is near;
 let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his thoughts;
let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him,
and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

 For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
 For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

 “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven
and do not return there but water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
-Isaiah 55:6-11

Mo pardon ang Ginoo sa ang sala sa tawo. His mercies cannot be counted and cannot be understood. Tanan gi called sa Ginoo. Tanan may recieve His graces, and His blessings.

Ang Ginoo is like the FATHER in in the parable of the Prodigal Son, that Christ Jesus told us.

In the parable of the Prodigal Son, the younger son was given his share of wealth and spent it all on wine, eating, women etc. And when the Father found out that the son was working as a tenant and eating from the food of animals, the Father rejoiced with the return of His lost son. He prepared a feast for His son.

But now we must celebrate and rejoice, because your brother was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.
Luke 15:32

Jesus tells us that the Love of our Heavenly Father in Heaven is like that of the Father of the Prodigal Son. :)

He will wipe away our sins, and forgive us and remember not our past sins.

A worthy wife is the crown of her husband, but a disgraceful one is like rot in his bones.
-- Proverbs 12:4

The sanctity of marriage. This verse reminds me of the need to retain conservancy.

Grandchildren are the crown of old men, and the glory of children is their parentage.
-- Proverbs 17:6

This verse teaches us the beauty and sanctity of familial piety. And to remember our roots. As Christ Jesus, himself, was referred to his blood relation to King David. 'Son of David'

Remember your roots. And find strength in their sacrifices. :)

A newsmonger reveals secrets; so have nothing to do with a babbler!
-- Proverbs 20:19

Reminds us not to 'chissmiss' too much. Spreading rumors not only hurts those who you talk about, but also don't reflect positively on those who 'chissmiss'.

I love this one, Magnificat

The canticle echoes several Old Testament biblical passages

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour;
he has looked with favour on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed;
the Almighty has done great things for me and holy is his name.
He has mercy on those who fear him,
from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with his arm
and has scattered the proud in their conceit,
Casting down the mighty from their thrones
and lifting up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good thing
and sent the rich away empty.
He has come to the aid of his servant Israel,
to remember his promise of mercy,
The promise made to our ancestors,
to Abraham and his children for ever.

A beautiful choice, Ma'am Tess!

That one is the Canticle of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ, God Blessed Forever.

When the Angel Gabriel appeared to her to proclaim the glad tidings, Blessed Mama Mary accepted the WILL of the MOST HIGH.

Amen! Amen!

She truly is called BLESSED from generation to generation!

Nowadays, it not uncommon for children to be disrespectful to their parents, grandparents or elderly for that matter.  We have become so "sensitive" to other religions that we fail to remind children that loving our parents is one of our Lord's Commandment.

We children should remember that our parents care for us when we were young.  Our mother bore us for many months in her tummy and have to go through first trimester struggles.  And then took care of us when we were babies.  They were anxious and sleepless when we got sick, cried when we got hurt and held our hands when we first attempted to walk.  Our parents were there when we were so helpless and needed protection.  They nurtured us.  It is but fitting to love and care for them especially when they are already in the twilight of their lives.

Mother always knows best, that is what I always say.

Everytime I make a mistake or do something wrong, Mom will always tell me. She always somehow knows when I am doing something that I should not be doing and will tell me bluntly not to do it or to focus more on something.

It must be the maternal-fetal bond that I used to share with Mom when I was but a fetus in her womb. The liquids she drank, I also drank. The food she ate, I also took my share of proteins, sugars, glucose etc. The air she breathed, was sent to me through the umbilical artery and umbilical vein. Mother's rich oxygenated blood poured into my fetal lung through the umbilical arterial pathway. And provided the oxygen that allowed my fetal lung to develop and to breath.

Mother's hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) hormone allowed the secretion of progesterone and estrogen, which allowed her to maintain the pregnancy and to maintain my stability in her womb as I grew.

It was Mother's immune system that kept me and protected me as I grew in her womb; though I was a 'foreign' substance that was only half identical to her (the other half coming from the father). It is the miraculous nature of the Maternal-Fetal bond that allows the mother's immune system from attacking the embryo. The mother's immune system literally 'accepted' the status of the embryo and protected the embryo from viruses, bacterial pathogens etc.

Mother's body is so sensitive to the child that the maternal nerves can detect and forms an indirect nerve link to the fetus' while in the womb. Literally uniting the child to the MOTHER.

From a mere blastocyst, from a mere 2-cell stage, we grew in the womb of our MOTHERS. Developed within her and grew because of HER.

There is nothing like a Mother's Love.

John 4:7-15:
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

Luke 11:5-13

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Suppose one of you has a friend
to whom he goes at midnight and says,
‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread,
for a friend of mine has arrived at my house from a journey
and I have nothing to offer him,’
and he says in reply from within,
‘Do not bother me; the door has already been locked
and my children and I are already in bed.
I cannot get up to give you anything.’
I tell you, if he does not get up to give him the loaves
because of their friendship,
he will get up to give him whatever he needs
because of his persistence.

“And I tell you, ask and you will receive;
seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks, receives;
and the one who seeks, finds;
and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
What father among you would hand his son a snake
when he asks for a fish?
Or hand him a scorpion when he asks for an egg?
If you then, who are wicked,
know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit
to those who ask him?”

I like this verse in scripture because it reminds one to work hard. To help yourself and to use the gifts and faculties that our Loving Father has given us. Honest hard work pays off. :)

There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs.

Luke 12:2-3

Meaning: The truth will always come out. Even if it isn't immediate or even if it takes thousands of years to be discovered. It will always come out. The lies of politicians, and dictators, rulers and kings came out after their passing. As our Lord is a God of Truth, so too is the spirit of Truth cometh from Him.

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

-Isaiah 40:28

Amen! Amen! Amen!

It is pronounced, His works and His imprint is observed in the study of anatomy, embryology, histology, genetics, physiology, microbiology, pathology etc; all of which are taught in Medicine.

His wondrous works, in how he has willed our formation in the mother's womb.

How he has willed it that even though when we, the child, grow inside our mother's womb, that we are not attacked by our mother's immune system due to the 'acceptability' of our mother's immune defense (monocytic-macrophage targetting system) to our presence in her womb.

Why is it like that? What made the mother's immune system not attack us (which are foreign objects in the womb); yet at the same time the immune system can attack anything else foreign?
BECAUSE PROVIDENCE had DEIGNED it so.

Why is it that throughout all of the human race, matters not if one is black, white, asian, latin etc; at the 3rd week of gestation in the mother's womb, our fetal heart forms from the allantois!
And at the 5th week of gestation (a little over 1 month after fertilization), our fetal heart pumps!

And what is more rapturous and amazing is that when it first turns 'on' it immediately pumps fetal blood. And continues to do so.

How is it that it was on the 5th week that it begins to pump?

Yes, we understand the processes, but how did it happen, and who decided it to happen that way? Only PROVIDENCE knows.

His miracles and his glorious works are so obvious to us. If we only take a second to look and digest at the glorious works of our Lord.

Good Evening brothers and sisters,

May the Peace and Love of our Lord Jesus Christ and His Father in Heaven be with all of you.

Thus says the LORD to his anointed, Cyrus,
whose right hand I grasp,
subduing nations before him,
and making kings run in his service,
opening doors before him
and leaving the gates unbarred:
For the sake of Jacob, my servant,
of Israel, my chosen one,
I have called you by your name,
giving you a title, though you knew me not.
I am the LORD and there is no other,
there is no God besides me.
It is I who arm you, though you know me not,
so that toward the rising and the setting of the sun
people may know that there is none besides me.
I am the LORD, there is no other.

--Is 45:1, 4-6

Remark:

Even if all do not know of the Name of the Lord Almighty, and Mighty is His Name, All Honors and Praise are His and No Other. As the Lord God of Heaven, Father who is Co-Eternal, guided the hands of the Persian King, Cyrus the Great to crush the Babylonians, the Egyptians, the Hittites, the Assyrians, and the Greeks. Even if Cyrus knew not the name of the Most High, the Most High worked through Cyrus in destroying the Babylonians, who years previously, were responsible for the destruction of the Kingdom of Israel.

For The Lord God punished Israel, His Chosen People, for their lacking in keeping His Laws. AND likewise, like a Father punishes a child for misbehavior, so did He allow Babylon to overtake Judea.

However, like a loving father, who forgives the sins and mistakes of His child, Almighty Father in Heaven heard the cries of HIS people, the Jews, and sent Cyrus to liberate them.

For the Lord God, The Most High, wills all that is to come. All come to pass according to His Mighty Will.

In times of relent, and in times of catastrophe, in times of need and obscurity, one must never loose his or her sight on The Lord. For there is nothing that the Lord cannot doe. All is possible for His Mighty Hand.

And there is a great song found in 2 Samuel 22. It is entitled the Song of Thanksgiving.

David sang the words of this song to the Lord when the Lord rescued him from the grasp of al his enemies and from the hand of Saul. This is the song itself:

Oh Lord, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer,
my God, my rock, my refuge!
My shield, the horn of my salvation,
my stronghold, my refuge, my saviour, from violence you keep me safe.
Praise the Lord, I exclaim!
And I am safe from my enemies!

The breakers of death surged round about me,
the floods of perdition overwhelmed me;
the cords of the nether world emmeshed me,
the snares of death overtook e.
In my distress I called upon the Lord
and cried out to my GOD.

From HIS TEMPLE, He heard my voice,
and my cry reached his ears.

The earth swayed and quaked;
the foundations of the heavens trembled
and shook when his wrath flared up.
Smoke rose from his nostrils,
and a devouring fire from his mouth;
he kindled coals into flame.
He inclined the heavens and came down
with dark clouds under his feet.

He mounted a cherub and flew,
born on the wings of the wind,
He made darkness the shelter about him,
with spattering rain and thickening clouds.
From the brightness of his presence coals were kindled to flame!

THE LORD GOD thundered from heaven;
the MOST HIGH gave forth HIS voice.
He sent forth arrows to put them to flight;
he flashed lightning and routed them.
Then the wellsprings of the sea appeared,
the foundations of the earth were laid bare.

At the rebuke of the LORD,
at the blast of the wind of his wrath.

''He reached out form on high and grasped me;
he drew me out of the deep waters.

He rescued me from my mighty enemy,
from my foes, who were too powerful for me.
The attacked me on my day of calamity,
but THE LORD came to my support.

He set me free in the open
and rescued me, because he Loves me.

May the Peace and Love of Christ Jesus and His Father In Heaven be with you all.

Lively is the courage of those who fear the Lord,
for they put their hope in their savior;
He who fears the Lord is never alarmed,
never afraid; for the Lord is his hope.

Happy the soul that fears the Lord!
In whom does he trust, and who is his support?
The eyes of the Lord are upon those who love him;
he is their mighty shield and strong support.

A shelter from the heat, a shade form the noonday sun,
a guard against stumbling, a help against falling.
He buys up the spirits, brings a sparkle to the eyes,
gives health and life and blessing.

--Sirach 34: 13-17

These verses in Sirach 34 are self explanatory. I love to read this because it reminds us to trust on The Lord. Always trust in The Lord. Yes, we will have our bad days, our hard days, our testing of days, but faith does not come without trials. We must stand by our faith and trust in Lord Jesus, and His Loving Father. Who is the spirit of Life. The Spirit of Truth. The Giver of Life. As what St. Peter told us, the Living Church, in his epistles, to cling to our faith.

God always knows best. :)

May the Peace and Love of Christ Jesus, His Heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit, who proceeds from the Father and Son, be with all of us. Peace be with you, my brothers and sisters.

Bible verses are the source of life. If you are given a second chance to live, who will you be, and why?

A Layman,

Your question brings to mind the Nicene Creed to my mind, which professes:

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

So this tells me, by conviction and faith, that our lives are not ours to give and take, but are gifts by the Holy Spirit. Who is the Giver of Life, and who proceeds from the Father and the Son. And together, The Holy Trinity, is worshiped and glorified.
A second chance to live, by whatever circumstance, is a blessing from The Most High. Live as yourself, and live in accordance to the Word that you have been taught. Hold true to Sacred Scripture in lieu with Sacred Tradition.

Regards,

Thanks a lot Lorenzo,

I truly believe the Bible in its entirety that there is only one God Who is the giver of life, creator of living and non-living things. He sent His only begotten Son in the name of Jesus to redeem humanity from transgressions, of adoring other gods not Him. We then knew that God is so jealous in His creatures He deeply love to have adored another god. That's a gross ingratitute I mean. Yet, everyone of us cherish traditional values from our family roots which eventually becomes in a way, a part of our molding as a person. That's why when one considers the Bible as the source of the truth, then it will make one's life a valueable possession given by God. Otherwise, it becomes a life without the guiding light, and a life in total darkness without any glimpse of hope in setting a direction.

I am not really good in memorizing the exact locations of the bible verses as you are, but I really like them all from alpha to omega. But the verse that gives influence my life most, but not everyone's favorite, is, "Do not lay yourself treasures on earth where moth and rust doth corrupt and where thieves break through and steal... but lay yourself treasures in heaven..."

A Layman,

It is always positive and faith rewarding to discuss the meanings of particular verses within scripture or how it affects our own lives. And our discussion of it is a testament to the Power of the Holy Spirit allowing us to communicate the meanings of sacred scripture.

As our own bodies are temples to The Holy Spirit.

Amen, tinuud bitaw that the Bible is a good guide for our daily bread. There are so much truths to the bible and answers that one can turn to when one is having trouble in our lives. That is the beauty of it.

God Bless you, A Layman.

Yours,

Kudos to you Lorenzo! Men like you at your younger age are the new breeds the world needs to be multiplied. Keep up the good work, sustain and strive for excellence in your studies as a medical student. There are so many helpless people waiting to be shared with that talent in your chosen profession.

There is another verse worth carving in everyones heart. I understand this as a recap on what the 'Ten Commandments' is intented for. "Love one another as God loves you." This may not be the correct wordings but the meaning is so emphatic that we are told to take care of our fellow human beings with love. That we should not emulate the words of the first murderer, "Am I my brother's keeper?" or juggle the words, "Love another one!". Do you think the world is bound within the shadow of confusion because of these misinformations?

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6)

that's the bible verse i know by heart... i call on Him every step of the way... be it in gladness or sorrow... and i've witnessed a lot of little miracles around me.. God is good at all times.. :)

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:  And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.  For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

--Romans 8: 16-18

I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man;  And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and withersoever thou turnest thyself.

--I Kings 2:2, 3

Keep to the Law as well as to Keep to your faith. Glorify The Lord and you shall, by your works and ordeals, shall be glorified in Him. For our own bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit, who proceeds form the Father and the Son. The Lord, The Giver of Life. Who is worshiped with the Father and the Son.

Find strength in your ordeals and your struggles, as success and triumphs do not come without opposition and the climb. We are called to suffer, as our Lord Jesus Christ suffered for OUR own sakes.

Find beauty in your struggles and in your challenges. And remember that The Lord is not far away. He is near, when you think you are alone.

Remember his own words,

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.
--2 Corinthians 12:9

Don't forget to be kind to strangers. For some who have
done this have entertained angels without realizing it.

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

Here is a timeless classic. All wisdom, and all understanding comes from the mouth of Eternal Providence.

"Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him."
Daniel 2:20-22

I am honored and blesst to have been unified again with the Lord Jesus Christ through my Confirmation in the Holy Roman Catholic Church this Easter 2007. It is like an awakening never felt before in my life and throughout that day I have been so grateful for the love, guidance, and support my Lord has given me. And it has been revealed to me, by faith and by actions and by precedence, that Nothing is Impossible for The Lord Jesus Christ--His Father and the Holy Spirit who proceeds from the Father and The Son.

My brothers and sisters, do not care what others tell you, what words they say to you, do not be embarassed of your faith and your Love of our God. Shout with Joy! Exclaim your Love for Him!

I really love this verse in scripture, which I want to share with all of You, my brothers and sisters in Christ.

I will bless the Lord at all times:
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make her boast in the Lord:
The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
Oh magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt His name together.
I sought the Lord and He heard me,
and delivered me from all my fears!!

Psalm 34: 1-4

May our prayers be acceptable in your sight, Lord, and may our requests be answered according to YOUR WILL.

We all humbly pray, Lord.

Amen.
