Brother Vincent,
Christ gave each of the apostles the cup; I believe the "cup" was the cup of suffering - not necessarily martyrdom. Tradition says John was immersed in a vat of boiling oil; but he emerged from it unharmed. It was then he was banished to the desolate Isle of Patmos, where he wrote the Book of Revelation. He lived to old age because it was in Our Heavenly Father's plan. I believe that God loved the apostles equally and totally; he just had a different plan for each of them. Everything manifests according to His purpose...
"I, John, am your brother and your partner in suffering and in God’s Kingdom and in the patient endurance to which Jesus calls us. I was exiled to the island of Patmos for preaching the word of God and for my testimony about Jesus. "
Revelation 1:9
Tinuod Bro. Hehehehe.
I was just thinking kung may kabahin ba na sa giingon sa Gospels that John is the beloved apostle of Christ.
