Of course The Lord God said for us to love. But to properly place Love. And Jesus HIMSELF reminds us the preciousness of the Sacrament of Marriage. He reminds us that Marriage itself is a Vow. And precious is a Vow made before God.
Jesus reminds us that Vows are not to be broken:
"Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not break your oath, but keep the oaths you have made to the Lord.' But I tell you, Do not swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God's throne; or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No ,' 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one"
--Matthew 5:33-37
Jesus Christ reminds us:
And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.â€
Matthew 19:4-6
So as we see, Jesus Christ, did not change nor did he move away from the messages he proclaimed as heard in Old Testament. As the Son is One with the Father. And from Father and the Son--proceeds the Holy Spirit. Three Persons In One God. The Holy Trinity.
It was Jesus--as His Father who told Abraham, Noah, and all prophets of Old of the sanctification of Marriage. His message has not changed at all.
It is man that changes. God does not.
And He does not. For He is the Same from Beginning, To the Present and to the End of the Earth--still He will be Everlasting The Same.
