The Deeper the Sin
« on: July 02, 2013, 10:59:37 PM »
"Simon, I have something to say to you."

"Tell me, teacher, " he said.

"Two people were in debt to a certain creditor; one owed five hundred day's wages and the other owed fifty. Since they were unable to repay the debt, he forgave it for both. Which of them will love him more?"

Simon said in reply, "The one, I suppose, whose larger debt was forgiven."

He said to him, "You have judged rightly."

-Luke 7:40-43

Have you ever felt that your sins were too great to forgive?  You shouldn't.  Christ's forgiveness can do some amazing things if you allow it to.

In this story, Jesus was sitting at a table in the Pharisee Simon's house when a sinful woman came and anointed Jesus' feet with oil.  Simon questioned Jesus, and Jesus responded in today's verse.

Jesus explained that because of the depth of this woman's sins, she would appreciate and love Christ that much more.  In other words, the greatest sinners become the most loving converts.

We can see other examples of this, as well.  St. Paul spent his days prior to his conversion actively persecuting Christians.  He went on to author much of the New Testament.  St. Peter denied Christ three times but went on to become of the Bishop of Rome.  There are many more stories just like these.

Moral of the story: do not let the depth of your sins keep you from seeking Christ's forgiveness; instead, allow it to foster an even greater love of your Savior.  Jesus loves you regardless of how deep your sins may go.

The deeper the sin, the deeper the forgiveness.  The deeper the forgiveness, the deeper the love for Christ.

The bigger sinner you are - God can forgive you no matter how big or small - the more appreciative you are and grateful... the more you love back (supposedly) :D

So... we should not judge people!!! ;) No matter how serious and grave their sins seems. It's not what you see; it's what and how God sees!!! ;)
