Here easter is not celebrated the same way as we cellebrate back in the states. Graduation is the same week for 3 of my kids, and with it being crisis I am not so sure too many can enjoy the holweek as the graduation fees are running at a minimum of 3000 piso per student just for exspenses alone.
The sad thing is paying for a paper diploma and nothing to protect it such as vinyl cover book.

The diploma converted to merican money cost $6.00 this year for high school students
aulumni is $10.00, and toga isaround 18.00 dollars and speakers dinner cost each student around P450.00 sheesh and no meals or snacks fo the graduates makes me wonder just what kind of a meal he is eating at that price multiplied by so many students.
yearbook cost p750.00 and so on and if you do not pay all you can not take the final and graduate.......................OMG!
Thats how we in Tagbilaran with graduating students are cellebrating our holyweek by paying for the graduation four days later to hapen on the 27th of March!

Sending our kids to school  is no joke as tuition fees and other charges in the campus are
rising up, it's really a big cross to carry so much more if our kids don't study very well.

I didn't see observance of Holy Week here in the USA as much as we do in our family there in Bohol.  Here there is commercialization of this Holiday.  The stores are filled with Easter stuff like all the eggs and bunnies and stuff.

Our younger sister is also graduating her second college course on the 29th!  So to all the graduates, congratulations!

I visited the Blessed Sacrament of the Heart of Christ yesterday.
Have you guys ever visited in the middle of the night?
I really recommend it, when there is no one there. I went there last night and did the stations of the cross on my knees, until it lead me to the blessed sacrament of Christ Jesus. Powerful kaayo ang experience--one is reduced to tears by the end of the adoration.

The Lord died went to the cross for us, guys, because he LOVED us that much.
Give back pood to him, not only by words, but by actions. Not only by faith, but by deeds.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
Matthew 25:41-46

For we must all appear before the jugment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

2 Corinthians 5:10

What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?
James 2:14

Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
James 2:17

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
Revelation 20:12-13

May this Easter Season Bring all of us Peace.
Read scripture, and contemplate. Blessings to all,

I haven't actually visited the blessed Sacrament in the middle of the night but back when I was still in Cagayan de Oro, I visited the blessed Sacramento many times at late night like 8 to 9 p.m.  Quite solemn.

You are so correct, Maring!  The Easter should be the biggest religious celebration.  We observe it by reflecting our lives with Jesus Christ's sufferings for us.  Sus, ka remember ko, kon magpabuyag mi sa una na di malikayan, basta Semana Santa, mahadlok si MOmmy manghampak nko kay mao nay ijang gi ingon na "ting pugong!"

Mao ba Ate Ging?

You know it really is different when you go to an adoration with a group of people and when you go to one by yourself alone. I personally prefer being there at night, when the church is in total darkness, besides the candles that are lit before the Tabernacle and the Sacrament.

I can pour out my tears and my emotions so easily. I feel that I am there one-on-one with my Lord. No one else besides me and Him.

The experience is so powerful, mo hilak jud ko.

That's really good that you experience that, Dong!  I know the feeling, it's like you have personal and one on one experience with the Lord.  Sometimes you start hearing voices as if the Lord is really speaking straight thru your heart.

Yes.

Especially when you are there by yourself at night, 'te.
At first, I would be scared, naturally my senses tell me to beware of the dark.
But it is different when you're at church, in total darkness, the only light are the candles illuminating the blessed sacrament. Its like a test of faith, 'te, you know? For me, its like the world, there is darkness and the only light that guides my path is the Lord our God, the Heart of Christ Jesus, my saviour, is the one that luminates my way. I come to him, like sheep looking for my sheppard. Everytime I enter church at night, 'te, its like I am greeted by Him. No word can explain the feelings I feel when I am there. There is just total trust you give to him. One time, 'te, I really didn't even want to leave church after doing adorations to the sacrament. I wanted to sleep there, to stay there. In the dark of night, there was no fear in my heart.

For whom shall we be afraid when Christ is with us?
For what shall hurt us when the Lord holds us in the palm of his hand?
Nothing in this world, seen or unseen, can harm you when you are in the House of God.

:)

That is really wonderful, Brownman. Kanang holy week, it not only celebrates the life, works, message, and death and rise of Jesus Christ. But also, it makes a sense of 'community' for everyone in every municipality diba? People from every barrio, every barangay, come down to the local church to give praises jud. Its so beautiful jud, because you know this phenomenon has been going on since the beginning of our christian faith.

The early church fathers, in what is now Judea, in coptic egypt and in the early roman empire would celebrate easter and holy week. Their faith was strong, seeing themselves as soldiers of christ and followers of the true word and traditions with it. For 2000 years we have kept and practiced our faith, and our traditions which stems back to ancient of days. This sense of 'community' is what links our church and our faith; not only in Philippines, but in Latin America, Africa, Europe, Middle East etc.

Very heart warming jud.
I've been to a Santo semana when I was younger with my Lolo and Lola in Valencia.
Everyone, from the bukid, to the plains to the urbanos came to church, and there was a feast for the people. Daghaan kaayo ang tawo. It was if all of Valencia was there, some 10,000+ people to celebrate mass. When the church was filled, there were still people outside the church, standing and listening to the word and message of the priest. bitaw ingon ani pod tong akong na experienced sauna diha sa Bohol, hasta gani mga sakyanan walay dagan kay tanan gyud mo stop from doing just about anything, ang buhaton - go to church, prosesyon ug maminaw sa radyo.

Pero pag-abot nako diri sa US, not a single holy week that I ever feel the way I felt when I was in Pinas - nodah!
Unya inig ka Easter Sunday it's a family gathering time just like having Thanksgiving.

And to think, every single one of us there was called to visit His House by the Holy Spirit.

God Truly Is Present in our hearts :)

Yup Bran, what i knew wala nay makalupig sa pag celebrate nato sa simana santa diri sa probinsya kumpara sa laing lugar, i thought this was one of the good teaching we'ved
inherited from the Spaniards.
