I would like to cover as much of the Holy Bible in this thread. From Old Testament to New Testament , and will keep in mind that there are many versions of the Holy Bible, for those who are very savy in Biblical versions, I will be using the New Jerusalem Holy Bible, which is the Catholic translation of the bible. I am highly encouraging others who use a different version of the bible, and for our Protestant Brothers and Sisters, come and bring your King James Version with you. If there are discrepencies in verses or in canon and deuterocanonical books, then we'll just address that as we go along. But as in all things spiritual, let's just keep an open mind as we study and share our views.

On that Note we will go through the complete biblical chronology of books. From Old Testaments to New Testaments.

I'd like to have the following:

1. Finish reading 1 book every week or so (in cases of emergency or time delay, we'll just have to make note of that and increase the time frame, but that is a case-by-case basis)

2. I'd like to have a reflective analysis after reading a book. Share my view, you share your view, each of us ask questions, each of us giving answers to each other's questions.

3. Offer your view on how a particular verse applies to you, the times we live in, in a reflective discernment.

4. This will probably take a long time to finish and complete. But if don't mind and are willing to and will bear with the width and breadth of this study, we'll encourage and teach each other the Word of God.

So let's start shall we? God Bless, brothers and sisters.

Yours in Christ,
Lorenzo

The first 5 books that I would like to focus on first is called the Pentateuch. These 5 books include Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy. These are, incidentally, integral and foundation books of the Old Testament, which is the first half of the Holy Bible.

Again, brothers and sisters, I am not promising that this will be a fast or quick study, but one that will most probably take several months if not years to finish. Please feel free to follow along.

To all the avid bible readers out there, please follow along and add in any corrections or words of counsel that will help to strengthen the forwarding of the Word of God. Be we Baptist, Orthodox, Calvin, Presbetyrian, Methodist, Catholic, Pentecostal or non-denominational Christian, please feel free to join and to offer insight, and a word.

I pray that this discourse will be pleasing to God and most importantly, helpful to all of us in studying HIS WORD.

God Bless.

1st Book: GENESIS [there are 50 Chapters in the Book of Genesis]

Considering the breadth of the Book of Genesis, I will allocate 3-4 weeks for the full reading of this book.
Brothers and sisters if we can, we'll aim to read about 10 chapters a week for this book.

This week I'll try to cover 4 chapters and I'll culminate the end of the week with a reflection of the chapters read , and application. Thanks.

===      ===      ===

Genesis Chapter 1-

I would like to extract a verse from Genesis Chapter 1 that emphasizes the beauty and power of God, which in Hebrew is shared as "bara". The word "bara" in Hebrew means 'Created' and brings the full Miraculous Wonder that is God's Divine Power. By the sovereign, originative power of God something absolutely new was brought into being - the heavens and the earth.

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning--the first day.
-Genesis 1: 1-5

The beauty of this verse, to me, brothers and sisters, is that it represents the beginning of Creation out of Absolute Nothingness. The first moments of creation.

If you've ever sat out in the night and tried to count the stars, and seen the planets in the constellations? Isn't it beautiful that all the planets, all the stars are the manifest of Creative Power of God.

From the stars, to the planets, to the bodies of water, to the lakes, streams, to the flying swans, the herding sheep, to the beautiful water lilly, to you and I, we are all equally referred to as 'BARA' in old Hebrew.

We are the Created. The proof of the Master's Art Work. :)

[to be continued]
