Reason No. 500 Why The World Is Rooting Against The Heat In NBA Finals

It’s not that everyone seems to want Dallas Mavericks to win. It’s that almost everyone wants the Miami Heat to lose.
That’s not just anecdotal evidence. An ESPN poll last week showed LeBron James’ popularity has been cut in half in the past year. Another recent poll said 86 percent of NBA fans were rooting against the Heat.
James said after beating the Bulls in the Eastern Conference Finals that there was another month of the hate. But we have more evidence that the cocky, whiny Heat are inviting the dislike.
We see another reason why NBA legend and TNT broadcaster Charles Barkley says the Heat are a “whiny†bunch that he doesn’t like. Prior to Game 5 in Dallas, James and teammate Dwayne Wade were filmed in the arena hallways feigning coughs and sneezes. In other words they were making fun of Mavericks center Dirk Nowitzki, who helped Dallas win Game 4 despite a 102-degree temperature. Anyone who watched his post-game press-conference noticed he was visibly sick and needed to be in bed, not answering questions.
Maybe its karma. Maybe it’s that people in glass houses shouldn’t be so cocky. Either way, it felt like the Heat deserved to lose Game 5.
It’s one thing to say you’re the best, but it takes a little more to back it up. It takes a little sportsmanship. James wants to compared to Michael Jordan, who won six NBA titles. It’s hard to remember Jordan making fun of anyone besides himself. And if someone else talked trash, Jordan made them pay for it on the court.
