Coach Rajko Toroman has prepared a road map for the Smart Gilas national team’s final push to the Fiba Asia Championship.
After the Fiba Asia Champions Cup from May 28 to June 5 at Philsports Arena, the Nationals will play in the Southeast Asian Basketball Association championship in Jakarta on June 23 to 26, according to Toroman. The top three finishers in SEABA championship advance to the Asian championship.
Smart Gilas is expected to breeze through the tournament, with host Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore fighting for the other two slots.
The SEABA will formalize the Philippines’ entry in the Asian championship on September 15 to 25 in Wuhan, China, with the champion clinching the lone continental seat to the 2012 London Olympics.
Next stop for the PH five after Jakarta is Lisbon, Portugal, on July 21 to 28 for tune-up games organized by former Jordan coach Mario Palma.
