Diamon Simpson scored 23 points and had 14 rebounds while LA Tenorio added 22 markers in leading Alaska past Barako Coffee, 104-96, last night to give the Aces a piece of third place in the eliminations of the PBA Fiesta Conference at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Simpson scored 17 of his output in the final two periods as the Aces blew hot and cold and had to battle it out in the stretch before pounding out their eighth win in 13 games.
Alaska tied idle sister squads Barangay Ginebra and Derby Ace, but coach Tim Cone feels it will take something out of the ordinary for the three squads to catch joint leaders San Miguel Beer and Talk ‘N Text for a spot in the Final Four outright. - By Musong Castillo, PDI
