I hiked up the Carpathian Mountains in Western Ukraine back in June 2006 during a field trip to Lviv, Ukraine.

It was a personal  and life changing experience. I thought to myself, " Here I was in the height of the mountains in this former Soviet Socialist State. "

I closed my eyes and realized that i was standing on one of the highest points in The Ukraine; the land where the great armies of Karl VIII (Swedish King during the Great Northern War), Napoleon's Invasion of Russia and Nazi Germany's invasion of Soviet Ukriane. History really did touch me in that point of time (or in my case, i was touching history). hehe.

I loved it.
