who is to know, really?  bear attacks?  snake bites?  the wilderness of snow and ice or of desert sands?  rambo in the jungle?  truly a difficult question that may take a lifetime to answer, unless i am brought at once to the wilderness to find out, in which case nothing may be heard from me anymore.

A favorite reference book in my library is a copy of the U.S. Armed Forces Survival Manual. Every now and then it becomes bathroom fare. But I'm sure reading the book doesn't afford me a good enough inkling of how it really is.
