I think because the conscious that they have is below normal for human being. Animals and mentally retarded human being are alike in thinking, I thought.

i thought some get catatonic.

Those who get catatonic are those who go abstract, which is just a tad different from going mental but with manifestations which often are the polar opposite... ;D

and may i know the term of this polar opposite, sir?  for a while there i was tempted to ask you to speak english please because i couldn't understand your post a tad.  either that, or i'm catatonic now.  surely the polar opposite must be way beyond polar bears as against penguins? ;D
