i've read it somewhere before about a study made on why women shop. it's because (sub-consciously), women can cling to the hope that adornments in clothes, shoes, accessories will magically enhance our statuses and attractiveness. media has long perpetuated the belief that a woman's success is tied up with the way she looks.
for me, yes, sometimes it really makes me feel good and empowered if i get to have a nice pair of shoes. makes me more confident. but of course, women should also learn how to set limitations. if credit cards are bringing us down, then it's not doing any good to us.
