To confer respect and humility. We refer this prefix to give honor to the person being addressed, by his works, his achievements, and or some sort of personal obeisance. Filipinos, who uphold the notion of filial piety, are not wronged in this regard.

It is in our culture, and our mentality; we are a respectful people and culture.
