Prior to inserting the proctoscope, isles, we usually do an external exploratory proctoscopy, then, we will insert the proctoscope. External examination will allow us to identify external hemorrhoids first, and the insertion of the proctoscope will allow the physician to identify internal hemorrhoids, which is usually the source of anal bleeding.
In regards to external hemorrhoids, we usually remove them vis-a-vis hemorrhoidectomy. For internal hemorrhoids, depending on the severity, one can treat it via hemorrhoidectomy or hemorrhoidoplasty.
