hinumdom ko aning pang-rason sa Lights sauna. i used to smoke a pack a day (at least) and my favourite was Marlboro Lights. i hate the Menthols though. ang rason nga mag-Lights kay imbes na 10 years ang mabawas sa imong kinabuhi mahimo nang 7 ka tuig. so, makadaginot kag 3 ka tuig para mag-preparar sa imong kamatayon this was based on the difference on the damage to one's health between low-tar and regular tar cigarettes according to a medical study nga di na ko kabawo asa makita.

i'm technically clean for 8 years now. technically, because kay mangawat kawat pa panagsa. pero, usa ka stick sa usa ka tuig. wa na kaayoy craving.

Naa lai restrictions but not to totally ban cigarette. Smokers should develop social responsibility. They just can't smoke anywhere. There should be smoking areas provided by the gov't. If they smoke in public places, aw they should be fined. Higher jud ang penalty and the prices of cigarette should be higher, too. Dili pud isa-isa ang paliton, pakete jud. No minors are allowed to sell cigareetes on the streets. Bahala na sila mag smoke basta dili lang sila mangangin sa uban. IF THEY WANT TO DIE, LET THEM DIE ALONE!    isulod ning mga smokers ug usa ka room...let them die alone if they want to!

    Mau lagi na, pro just the same di man mahadlok ang smokers nga magka cancer.  Ang cancer na man hinuon ang nahadlok nila. Tanawa na sila si Ramos and other great leaders, buhing daku hangtud karon! taas man hinuon ilang kinabuhi...nag paila nga ninglikay na ang cancer. Anha na ang cancer motaboy sa mga second-hand smokers.

  I totally agree with you Lorenz. Ato na lang hangyo unta sa mga smokers not to smoke in public places. Tapokon na lang ni sila sa smoking areas/ smoking rooms. Bahala na sila oi basta dili lang sila mangangin sa uban.

   Sir, Felix, mau ni sila ang gitawag ug second-hand smokers and sila jud ang daling macancer! One stick for the smoker, ang equivalent ani 4 sticks ang mahanggap sa non-smokers. Maau man to sa imong lolo ug lola sa una kay dahon, herbal pa nga. We use plants to cure diseases, di ba? Kung naai man ugaling effect sa dahon, gamay ra kaau or wala jud. Ang cigarette kay nicotine na man jud!

Indeed. My grand aunt died because of second hand smoke, and she never smoked a day in her life. She was a college professor at Bohol University School of Nursing; and was exposed to smoke from colleagues , the doctors, and the students that smoked. (It was pop culture to smoke in the 70's). There are many rare cases of older patients who have smoked long term and have lived a long life, yes, sure. However, for the majority, long term smoking destroys the delta p-53 tumor suppressor gene, and this is positively attributed to systemic neoplastic growth and eventual malignancy.

Cancer (neoplasm) is an uncontrolled growth of cells due to a genetic defect of tumor suppressors, as well as a deficient cell-mediated lytic system, whose main goal is to destroy normally senescent cells (impaired ability). Lung cancer is but one type of cancer. Lung cancer is when the TNF (tumor necrosis factor) is deviated or destroyed due to a mutation of the P-53 gene in the chromosome, due to high / long term exposure of smoking. The continuous trauma to the lung epithelium by smoking and inhaling smoke changes the natural epithelium into stratified squamous epithelium, and continued irritation leads to deformity of the tissues and leads to pre-neoplastic conditions and then later neoplasia. And thus this growth spreads to the lung tissue and grows uncontrolled.

When this neoplastic growth enters the lymph node or the systemic circulation, it becomes malignant, meaning the uncontrolled growth of cells (cancer) will spread systemically. Lung cancer will spread to neighbouring organ systems that share the same blood route, thus it spreads to the adrenals, brain, liver, and bone.

Patients therefore who do not smoke can get cancer if they are exposed to the same effectors as those who smoke. In this case smoke, particulates, per chronic duration.

This is why there is such a large percentage of cancer deaths due to second hand smoking.

As far as i know, there is no debate about this anymore in the medical community. It is widely accepted truth. In fact, treatment regimen depends on this truth.

what we are doing now (new treatment regimen) is called gene therapy. We are now working on synthetic gene therapy to produce excess P-53 gene products so as to combat the neoplastic growth. This has been quite effective on animal experiments; if it continues , it will  proceed to higher stages in FDA experiments and if it passes regulations, will be used in human treatment.

This treatment regimen is based on our accepted medical understanding of the processes that leads to cancer and its spread; and most of all, the mechanisms of action that facilitates it.

Smoking tobacco leaves was different from the smoking of cigarettes, Vistabel. My great grandmother smoked tobacco leaves and lived up to the age of 87 years old. However, the smoking of pure dried tobacco leaves is different from the nicotine-infused and tartar-rich cigarettes that they sell in any store. Higher concentration of particulates in cigarettes.

In fact, cigarette smoking (heavy and long term) and smokers are at high risk of developing hypertension, cardiovascular problems, lung pathologies (emphysema, lung cancer etc).

Smokers (chronic cigarette smokers) have the danger of becoming hypertensive and stroke victims. The smoke that one inhales (high nicotine and tar content) damages the endothelial lining of the arterial vessels, and this leads to thrombosis--thus, thrombus formation. There are so many complications to long-term cigarette smoke. I can't even begin to remind people how many times we see patients in Med Surg, CCU, ICU with problems related to smoking: emphysema, lung cancer, tracheal cancer, laryngeal cancer, bronchitis, etc.

This is really very sad.

 ako pud uncle, bai Lorenz. after he quit smoking, chain smoker jud to siya, na cancer naman  hinuon siya. He died because of this. (may his soul rest in peace). napadali iyang kinabuhi after siya ning quit smoking. naka ingon gud akong auntie, maau pa hinuon wa si uncle ning stop ug panigarilyo dakung buhi pa unta siya hangtud karon!

   friends of my late uncle nga mga smokers pud would say,dili na sila mo undang kay daku na pud ilang nagasto sa pagpanigarilyo. parehas ra man gihapon daw. ug mo undang sila, cancer gihapon. mas maau pa ug dili mo undang,  murag dili pa sila mag ka cancer dajon! mura kuno ning cancer magahuwat lang na. kung mo quit aw naa dajon sila mopuli

For a while ang mass growth will be benign , when the level of growth becomes uncontrolled and when the neoplastic growth enters the systemic flow by spreading to the lymph nodes , it then metastasizes. This is when the neoplastic growth spreads from its regional containment to systemic uncontrolled growth. When it spreads to major organs such as the brain (causes neural defecits), kidneys (renal failure, HTN, decreased perfussion), liver (hepato necrosis), adrenals (hormonal abnormalities) etc.

This is why when cancer does spread, it is so very hard to contain and treat especially if it spreads and has been undiagnosed for a while. Once it damages major organs and alters their function, it is hard to reverse the visceral alteration.
