What do you tell foreigners visiting the Philippines?
« on: December 07, 2009, 02:00:00 PM »
What do you say to a foreigner who’s about to visit the Philippines for the first time? Or to a foreigner who’s visiting the Philippines again after a long time? Are you going to emphasize the good and the positive, leaving the rest unsaid, and the entire conversation becomes moot, inaccurate and defensive OR emphasize purely the bad and one becomes a skeptical, unpatriotic brute who selfishly left the country?

' Skip Manila and go to the south instead'

ha ha ha, I love it!

---

This is what I would say to foreigners wanting to travel to Philippines:

"Go visit the provinces, outside of the cities, have to visit Bohol and Cebu. Don't be afraid to ride the Jeepneys and the pedicabs! If you visit Visayas say to the beautiful women, "Hoy kamusta man ka, gwapitang baji!" he he he!
The Filipino people are one of the nicest, warmest, and accepting people in the world! Have a great time! Enjoy! And dont forget to take pictures~!"

Enjoy the beaches, the malls and especially
the foods; lechon, fresh seafood and most of all
the tropical fruits as mangoes, jackfruit, etc.
Word of caution: Hold unto your pockets!

Typical Whites doesnt like our fruits, like my banana here! SUBAN-ON as in. But the geographical aspects in our country it is still the best. Wa jud ko ma say nga negative. I may not like some of our people but that cant bother me from praising our beloved country to my Merikan peers.  We have everything that many of them wished to have.

I tell them not to be scared by the overwhelmingly bad news coming out of this country.

My suggested holiday is to do a tour of this area where it's safe and friendly: Bohol, Siquijor, Camiguin and Dumaguete.  I always warn them to stay away from the big cities; the only attraction there is the shopping, which is a similar experience to going to the mall at home.
