Science is a methodology, a process, not a specific set of beliefs. Science is based on tested hypotheses based on empirical evidence, that is, evidence that can be detected by our limited senses. As such, the results and theories based on those results are based only in the material world. Thus discussions like God or religion in general is beyond the scope of science in general. Scientists, as people, are free to discuss their theories on God, but because God is not material, he cannot be measured empirically, someone who bases their thoughts on empirical evidence will never see the ancient truths that religion is based on.
