When I dole out food to the poor they call me a Saint, but when I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a communist.

Pit-Senyor !!! - A cheer devotion being heard all over Cebu City, Philippines.

But what really is PIT SENYOR?

Some said it originated from the phrase "Sangpit sa Senyor (Call to Senyor), which the first word shortened to Pit. Others think it is just a mere cheer to go with the festival.

Word could be also stands for:

P for Poverty - Being poor in pride

I for Innocence - Innocence in Sin

T for Trust- Faith in the Lord

as we shout for "Pit Senyor!!!" we also reminded for this Senyor for Poverty,Innocence and Trust for the Holy Child.

For you what is the meaning of Pit Senyor?

Thanks Father Brand for your inspiring definition of PIT Señor, it coincide as we celebrate now the year of FAITH.  :D

I heard this from the homily of a priest that the word Pit is referring to a baby Jesus.

Now, why we call Him Señor? why not  Junior?  We call Him Señor, because this little child was born to lead us to the heaven, He taught us how to become a good children of God, by obeying the commandments and follow the will of the Father.

I´m not referring to the statue Sir Hubag, I am pointing on our faith in HIM, and his teachings when the time that He was here on earth,  and one of his teaching is:

Matthew 17:20 He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

Opkors. Senior citizens with faith the size of an orchid seed can move mountains. I'm sure Sir FD would agree.

he he he, i can't help but smile at the conversation between Hubag and Vhinz. Yes, Hubag is correct, in stressing the importance of faith. And so is Vhinz for sharing that verse from Matthew. :)

Brother Vhinz, the word 'Senior' is used in the Spanish language to mean "LORD".

In the Spanish language, Christians refer to Jesus Christ as "MI SENOR JESUS CHRISTO, MI SALVADOR Y MI FE", which means in English, "My LORD JESUS CHRIST, My Savior and My Faith."

When Filipinos say PIT SENYOR, it literally means, "Call to the Lord". We call the LORD...through our faith, our troubles, our trust.

:)

God Bless You, my friend.

The Sacred Image of the Holy Child Jesus , Senor Santo Nino, represents an important phase in Philippine History. It represents the arrival and victory of the Christian Faith in our land.

The Blessed and Sacred Image of El Senor Santo Nino, the Image of the Holy Child Jesus, represents our people's entrance into Christendom.
