For me, it is hard to let things go. Specially whenever it is serious and degrading to the person. I think it isn't good to quickly forgive, it entices others to walk on you or commit a similar act or an act of the same magnitude in terms of degradation. At times, it is necessary for a person to hold another in account of his or her actions, if they do not ask for an apology--or show some kind of guilt to the said act; or ask for some kind of clemency, then why should you be the one to forgive them? Why does one have to bend backwards for the ill act of another, who dare I say, meant to harm and instigate hatred/wrath on you?
Nay. I have a problem with this.
If a person truly wants to illustrate his or her verisimilitude, then he or she should show guilt of the said ill act; and hold his or herself responsible for the instigation of another individual thereby accepting the societal and inter-personal response--as effect of a particular transgression. The transgressor
should therefore know where he or she was wrong and take responsibility of the said transgression and thus ask for clemency from the one who he or she offended. It is the only
moral and
ethical thing to due. If a person cannot recognize this phenomenon, then he or she is not deserving of 1) forgiveness from the transgressed and 2) rectification.
Anyone who was transgressed by another individual and instead of demanding an apology, but instead 'forgave' that instigator, unwhittingly acquiesced to the actions and the perceptions of the transgressor. Indirectly speaking, the transgressor translates this to fit his or her own agenda. It is the psychology of a human being to rectify his or her own actions, and for us to 'forgive' quickly an ill act is to 'rectify' and 'justify' the one who was guilty, thereby will indirectly lead to his own psychosomatic legitimization of the same act to another person. Indirectly, you would be held accountable for this proliferative response.
He who begets a wrong should take the helm. Not cower in fear of the response of his action.
