One time I was in downtown Newark. I saw an old man in the intersection of I-280West. An old black man who was in his early 70s at least. It was cold that day, and it was a snowing week. With my eyes I saw that old man walk up to a man in a business suit as he was getting inside his Mercedes E-Class. This man was a wealthy man, probably an executive at one of the financial firms or an attorney in the many law firms in Gateway Center District of Newark City.
Still the man brushed the old man away.
The the old man came up to my direction, note that I was in my car about to drive away. I stopped for him, though. I rolled down my window and gave him the coins that I had, it was the only money I had in the car at the time (and i am not rich or wealthy, but a struggling medical intern). I apologize to him for not having enough to give and for only having coins to offer.
He said to me, "Anything helps, son, you didnt have to give but you gave anyway. God Bless You, son."
I was touched. My heart was touched. I replied him back, "And May Our God Bless You, Sir. Take Care. Stay Warm."
He smiled and went on. He was in the center of a highway intersection opening. I do hope he made it to a shelter.
Somehow I have a feeling that he was not an ordinary individual.
I do know and believe that Angels do disguise themselves in human appearances. I saw Christ in that that poor old man.
God Bless the poor and suffering.
