No, I wasn't given any punishment besides a talk down by the coaching staff.
The player who I had an argument with, Pat Sumek was his name, stopped his taunts. There was a big competition with linebackers and the rest of the linemen, which I was part of. But whenever we were in the locker room, all I would have to do was flex my arm and stare at him, and he would walk away.
The kinds of things he used to say were very racist, 'te.
"you f__ng gook", "asians can't play football" etc.
And one of the things he would do to some players that irritated me was spit at them. He would spit at their face, helmet etc. He didn't do that to me tho, if he did, I would have destroyed him. My helmet would have gone up to his chin.
Lets just say that it felt really good to shut him up. One thing I loved about playing football was the ability to tackle players in the field or in the practice. I do miss smashing my helmet on the opposing player or doing the helmet smash with another team mate whenever we sacked a quarterback or recovered a fumble. Good times, hard times, sad times, but all in all, I look back at the experience and see it as a learning experience. One of life's raw lessons.
