years ago, i bought our little girl a cheongsam for her fourth birthday celebration at a jollibee branch in cebu.  by the time we went home, she was already asleep and her cheongsam was torn beyond repair.

no, she didn't have that, but my great-grandfather's sisters did.

Here's a picture of my Lola, sitting on her lap is my cousin Christian Grace.
Lola wearing a simple dark red qipao.

hehehe ! cute ! what color was her cheongsam?

red.  bought it off the rack.  i liked it.  she didn't, hehe.

The first time I went to China in 1999 I bought quite a few to give as gifts to siblings and parishioners alike. American friends preferred the MALONGS from Bohol hahahaha!!!

i would understand such preference.  malongs are practical.  back when the malong was still not so readily available (one can buy it only in zamboanga and davao and some special stores in cebu), i tried to practice wearing it 27 ways(!), a tip given to me by a stage director.  morag sayaw kay choreographed.  fascinating!

Sayop ang pangutana. Kini maoy sakto:  "Bugsay, have you ever worn a qipao before?"

Isles, the Chinese beauty is one of the best in the world. Chinese women , tho some are in their 40's or 50's do not look like their age because of the high collagen found in their face. Chinese women age very gracefully, unlike many western women who tho they are still in their 30's or 40's look like they are 50 or 60.

My mom , a Chinese Mestiza, is 49 years old but looks like she is in her mid to late 30's.

This is blouse Quipao I once wore in a Filipina party in Recklinghausen, Germany.
